Rock Legend ALICE COOPER to Headline at ROCK CARNIVAL 2016

The Northeast's Only Classic Carnival + Rock' Roll Festival Experience is BACK!
Featuring TWISTED SISTER's Official Tri-State Farewell Performance + Overkill,
Ace Frehley, Monster Magnet, Fuel, Cinderella's Tom Keifer & More
Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2016 @ FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, NJ

As recently announced, the annual ROCK CARNIVAL is back for its second year - taking place on September 30, October 1 and October 2 at its new location in Lakewood, NJ at FirstEnergy Park, home of the Lakewood Blue Claws.

As with its inaugural year, which drew a staggering 50,000+ attendees, the second annual ROCK CARNIVAL will feature classic amusement rides and entertainment, the most delicious food truck offerings, high-action Professional Wrestling, a wide selection of tasty brews, and of course... the best in local, national and international rock music performances! This year's event will also see the addition of more carnival area space and a children's fun zone. This is a weekend of big fun for the whole family!

ROCK CARNIVAL is pleased to announce even more stellar talent performing at this year's show. In addition to Saturday headliners and heavy metal legends Twisted Sister performing their can't-miss official tri-state farewell show, fans will enjoy a legendary Friday headline performance from none other than the original shock rocker himself, Alice Cooper.

Pop culture icon Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. With a schedule that includes six months each year on the road, Alice Cooper brings his own brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock-rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie, even in an era where CNN can present real life shocking images. With his influence on rock & roll long since acknowledged, there is little that Alice Cooper hasn't achieved in his remarkable career, including platinum albums, sold-out tours and any number of honors and career achievement awards. As he heads back out on the concert trail each year, Cooper insists he's still motivated to continue touring and recording albums, as well as making time for such side projects as Cooper'stown (his Phoenix-based restaurant/sports bar) and his "Nights With Alice Cooper" nightly radio show, syndicated domestically and worldwide on over 100 stations.

In addition to Alice Cooper, other newly announced artists include Clutch, Blue Oyster Cult, Zakk Sabbath, Cycle of Pain, Zebra, Jackyl, Shaman's Harvest and KYNG. These artists join previously announced ROCK CARNIVAL 2016 artists Overkill, Ace Frehley, Monster Magnet, Fuel, Cinderella's Tom Keifer, Dokken, Texas Hippie Coalition, Doro, Four By Fate, Killcode, Jester and American Angel. Even more ROCK CARNIVAL performances will be announced soon, with Sunday's performance line-up being announced via 95.9 the WRAT on Tuesday, July 5!

Music will take place on multiple stages including two main festival stages, side by side, on the field. Fans will have general admission access to the stadium field. The musical portion of the event will once again feature the Birch Hill stage, a very popular performance area, with the addition of another performance area showcasing developing artists.

This year's festivities will also include a brand new "Classic" Friday night celebration, which will feature tributes to classic rock favorites! Voyage will perform a tribute to Journey, Almost Queen will play your Queen favorites, and Zakk Sabbath - featuring vocalist/guitarist Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne), bassist Blasko (Ozzy Osbourne, ex-Rob Zombie) and drummer Joey Castillo (ex-Queens Of The Stone Age) - will perform Black Sabbath classics.

Reserved weekend, GA weekend, single day, VIP and Skybox tickets for this year's ROCK CARNIVAL are on sale now. Carnival entry is FREE for all children under 16 and Adult Carnival Only Admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the Carnival. Carnival Only Admission does not include stadium access.

Single Day, VIP Packages and Skybox Meet & Greet's, powered by SoundRink, are on sale beginning today. Find VIP packages and Skybox tickets via SoundRink. More carnival details, per-day line-ups and other entertainment will be announced soon. For more information, visit The ROCK CARNIVAL is produced by Stan Levinstone Presents and GameLoud.

Rave Rockers SEEK IRONY to Re-Release Album 'Tech N' Roll' via UDR Music on July 29, 2016

After witnessing the original release of what most consider Tel Aviv-native and now Austin-local electronic rock band SEEK IRONY's breakout album, Tech N' Roll, legendary rock label UDR Music has signed on to re-release it in its full glory on July 29, 2016. Boasting a heavy rock and electronic mixture with an alternative rock edge, SEEK IRONY is poised to join the ranks of genre-fusing greats like Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie and others with Tech N' Roll.

Upon its initial release, Tech N' Roll became a raging success in underground rock communities internationally, and SEEK IRONY built further upon a history which had already seen them headline festivals in Tel Aviv and Haifa, Israel as well as feature as a showcase artist at the South By South West Music Festival in 2014.

Tech N' Roll is chock full of loud, live and explosive musical energy. Lyrically, the album touches upon topics ranging from technological influences on society and foreign politics, but doesn't forget to have fun with fan-favorite anthems.

"The music is a process that we all contribute together, some songs are more guitar based in their nature, some are more electronica based," says founding member and vocalist Kfir. "Lyrical topics vary. Some are political, like "Ravelution (Push)" for example, which was inspired by an Israeli-Palestinian youth leadership program that I was invited to attend as an Israeli activist artist, which brought together youth leaders from both sides of the border. (Then) "Running Towards The End Of The World" discusses social media and technology and how it affects all of us in this day and age. Some are very deep and meaningful and some are kinda silly like "Tech N' Roll" which simply describes what Seek Irony's music is really about - the combination of Techno (EDM) and Rock N' Roll."

Get a taste of Tech N' Roll via their music video for the track "Devil In Me" here:

Tech N'Roll track listing:

01. She 02. Tech N'Roll 03. Devil In Me 04. Skin2Skin 05. When You Lie 06. Running Towards The End Of The World 07. Low 08. Peel Me Away 09. Rave-o-lution 10. Tragically Driven 11. Head Above The Water

Tech N' Rollwas self-produced by the band at their own Keoss Studios in Tel Aviv, Israel and Evil Snail Studios in Austin, TX. The album was mixed by Phil Anderson at Powersound Studios in Edmonton, Canada and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Yes, Sepultura, Ill Nino, Starset) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering in CA.

About SEEK IRONY: SEEK IRONY's energy was forged early on by its founding members, Kfir (vocals) and Rom Gov (drums) who were furiously active in the music scene during their youth. After two successful trips to the US (and years of success and development in Israel) the brothers felt that it was time to take things to a whole new level and seek a new US pasture. Austin, Texas was chosen for its rich, and open, musical history, and as part of the relocation plan, Kfir decided to also start up a new Austin based recording studio called "Evil Snail Studios", which will be the band's recording home. And after a few intense months of searching, the Gov brothers welcomed on board two new members, Austin's local Grammy nominated and Progressive Rock Hall of Fame guitar hero Alex Campbell, and bassist/sound engineer Adam Donovan who had already worked on tour as a live sound and light tech with Die Krupps and KMFDM.

Album Review: D.A.R.K. - 'Science Agrees', Release 9 September 2016 via Cooking Vinyl

D.A.R.K. - 'Science Agrees'
Release: 9 September 2016 via Cooking Vinyl

Once upon a time The Smiths and The Cranberries met a producer and a supergroup was born. The band bio states that D.A.R.K, the band, has its roots in the collaboration formed between Andy Rourke (Smiths/ Bassist) and Olé Koretsky, after they met gigging in Washington DC. After a couple of years’ experimentation and laying down tracks in their home studios, a chance meeting between Andy and Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries) resulted in the singer asking him what he was working on. They began sharing tracks and the rest is history.

'Science Agrees' is the name of the album and the chemistry between the 3 artists is obvious. Dolores sings superbly on all tracks on which she shared the production with her two amigos. This is an important album with current themes, such as death on the superb ‘Steal Away’, or loss of faith and dissatisfaction with ‘Gunfight’. ‘Watch I am Bleeding’ with its classic New Wave intro would sit well on a Cure or Bauhaus album. Every track is different and explores different emotions but I have to say I am very touched by ‘Watch Out’, which follows ‘High Fashion’. I have been playing this title over and over...

It is complicated to describe the array of influences on the album insofar as it does cover anything from Sonic Experimentation and Electronica to Bowie, Cure or REM for the most obvious ones. When I was half way thru the album, the ambiance and atmosphere reminded me of the talented but unsung Irish hero Perry Blake. The musical pedigree of Andy and Dolores makes this album more than a curiosity. This is a superior collection of musical vignettes, well complemented by the DJ background and song writer’s talent from Olé.

Subtle, intelligent and extremely well produced there are different ways to approach each songs as they all have a multidimensional facet to them. It’s great to hear Dolores fully in control and her voice is especially superb on ‘Loosen The Noose’, where there is a fascinating dialogue between her and the male and suave answers that Andy provides to her interrogations.

This is innovative as far as music is concerned although it has a familiar late 1980's - early 1990's sound. It's artistically fresh and upbeat and I would encourage you to listen to 'CURVY' - the single - to get a glimpse of what is to come...

As it becomes harder to stand out and have an original sound, the group found their identity when moving to London in 2013 and continue to write and produce their original sound by taking influence from all manner of genres. The unrelenting in-your-face debut single ‘Faster’ proves the band are ready to make their mark on 2016!

Album Review: FOUR BY FATE - 'Relentless', released 3 June 2016 via Amazing Record Co.

FOUR BY FATE - 'Relentless'
Released date: 3 June 2016 via Amazing Record Co.

Hail hail to the new super group on Amazing Records. So here is the line-up: John Regan aka bassist and famous producer, Rob Affuso aka Skid Row drummer, Patrick J. Gasperini; talented songwriter, and Tod Howarth AKA synth and vocals with Cheap Trick and Ace Frehley. Well worth noticing too, some other contributors to 'Relentless' such as AJ Pero (Twisted Sister) on his last studio appearance before his passing.

10 tracks for Four By Fate or FXF, that’s the name of the band. As you would expect: the production is impeccable for this Hard Rocking’ album. Moonshine, the second track with its bluesy intro immediately followed by a hard rocking traditional guitar solo is well inspired and get your feet stomping on the floor with that feeling of happiness that provides a good rock song.

The voice is pleasant and efficient on the entire album. However Follow Me is a cut above the rest when it comes to the lead vocals. The track kicks off with a false bluesy intro and morphed into a powerful song which reminds me of King’s X at times.

I cannot help comparing this group to Chicken Foot for obvious reasons: Hangin On, Levee Breach (despite a cool drumming intro) and It’s All Over Now, the power ballad with its touch of synth, are good songs but still are average tracks in my opinion, providing the calibre of the band. Now this album is full of guitars, the musicianship is obvious and well above the average and while the music is not innovative (and I know that’s not in the intent) it will please those who love listening relentlessly to uncomplicated songs.

Rock On!

Review by Pascal Derrien

Overall: a solid collection or rock hard songs

D.A.R.K. (feat. The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan, The Smiths' Andy Rourke) Announce New Release Date for Sept. 9

On September 9, 2016, Cooking Vinyl will release SCIENCE AGREES, the debut album by D.A.R.K. Already accumulating accolades for the previously released singles - the new wave "dancer" "Curvy" and the moodier but no less rhythmic "Loosen the Noose", SCIENCE AGREES trades off of the unlikely collaboration between Dolores O’Riordan, Andy Rourke and Olé Koretsky.

Dolores, known famously as the singer of The Cranberries, has sold over 40 million albums and also worked with the likes of Angelo Badalamenti and Jah Wobble. Andy Rourke is best known as the inimitable bass player in one of the most important British bands ever, The Smiths - he has also worked with Pretenders, Ian Brown, Sinead O’Connor and Badly Drawn Boy. The third and final member is Olé Koretsky, a Brooklyn-based songwriter, producer and DJ based who has hosted DJ events and parties throughout NYC.

The band’s roots lie in a New York DJ-mixing collaboration formed between Andy and Olé, after they met gigging in Washington DC. After a couple of years’ experimentation and laying down tracks in their home studios, a chance meeting between Andy and Dolores resulted in the singer asking him what he was working on. They began sharing tracks and ideas via email and dropbox, building on Andy and Olé’s original demos and, in a couple of instances, Dolores completely re-imagining some of the songs.

A project Olé was also working on called SCIENCE AGREES was also incorporated into the mix. The three of them found lots in common musically as well as personally, which allowed them to develop these ideas into an album. Further writing ensued, followed by the three band members meeting up in Ontario, Canada to record live instrumentation and final vocal takes. All three of them arranged and produced the album: a concoction created in NYC and Ontario, mixed in California and mastered in London.

The resulting album captures the essence of three distinctive personalities, incorporating their love of electronica and new wave. An array of influences can be heard throughout the album, in particular artists including Angelo Badalamenti (‘The Moon’), The Cure, Depeche Mode, David Bowie – Andy and Olé connected over their love of ‘Low’ – Magazine (‘High Fashion’), New Order (‘Curvy’), Pet Shop Boys and REM, with production and sonic experimentation inspired by Brian Eno, post-punk, post-disco, RZA and modern hip hop.

SCIENCE AGREES is a lyrically subtle album that touches on themes of isolation and disconnection, trauma and rebirth (‘Curvy’), drug addiction and love (‘High Fashion’, ‘Underwater’), control (‘Loosen The Noose’), death (‘Steal You Away’), loss of faith and dissatisfaction (‘Gunfight’), and the light that can be found in the creative darkness (‘Watch Out’).

SCIENCE AGREES will be available on CD, digital download and vinyl.

Watch 'Lady In Gold' here:

Commented singer Elin Larsson: "We shot the video for 'Lady in Gold' in Stockholms skärgård (what is like an old castle) with the amazing team around Johan Bååth. The idea behind the video is to visualize the Lady in Gold in all the different ways she can come. She can be that beautiful young woman or a scary old witch. It was a lot of fun and super exciting to jump into these different roles and characters. The whole team did a great job and it was a pleasure to work with all these talented people. Rage Against the Machine Debut Album To Be Released On Limited Edition Hybrid SACD

Rage Against the Machine Debut Album To Be Released On Limited Edition Hybrid SACD
“The first album to successfully merge the sounds of rap and heavy metal”

Camarillo, CA – Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing the critically acclaimed debut album by Rage Against the Machine on limited edition Hybrid SACD. Rage Against the Machine's first album is a mix of punk, metal, hardcore and politically resonate rap. Every song is full of energy with smart lyrics and plenty of slam-dancing potential. In 1992, the band released its self-titled debut album, which became a commercial and critical success. The album went to #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and #45 on the Billboard 200 chart. Rolling Stone magazine named it as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2001, Q magazine named it as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time.

This album is relentless, from the opening track “Bombtrack” all the way to the last blast of “Freedom,” every tune is a highly explosive ball of energy, none of which is clearly superior to any of the others. The lyrics, while full of blunt and pure anger, are very passionate and well-written in the sense that they actually stand for something.

This album like no other changed the landscape of '90s music. The “guilty parties”: Zack de la Rocha's vitriolic and angst-ridden words fueled by the heaviest rhythm section on the planet featuring drummer Brad Wilk and the exciting and dynamic bass of Timmy C and of course, RATM's signature sound, Tom Morello's belligerent, aggressive guitar riffs and turntable-esque noise that make this the best debut album of all-time.

The “Know Your Enemy” track features Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan on “additional vocals” and also features Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins on trashcan percussion. The liner notes claim, “No samples, keyboards or synthesizers used in the making of this recording.” This is, and always will be, considered Rage Against the Machine's most important work.

“Distinctly groundbreaking and original...a landmark in musical history.”

Review: ROMES - 'Believe EP', released via Five Seven Music

ROMES - 'Believe EP'
Released via Five Seven Music

It must be EP season recently. While I tend to focus more on albums, I have received some quality strong EPs recently and 'Believe' - a four track EP from Toronto based quartet ROMES - is no exception. A subtle melting pot, blending Pop, Rock, Synth and some touch of Indie, makes this EP more than interesting. The four titles are equally strong in their own right and all of them could potentially be played as a successful single.

"Believe" is opening the ball, introducing Jacob Bitav's voice with its distinctive feminine blend that accompanies so perfectly the aerial touch of a guitar. Who knows that Pop songs are good for the soul... Nice choruses and I like the direction the song takes about 2 minutes in. That’s some brio.

The second title is always a challenge but "Tryna Be" is ideally radio formatted but is far from being dull. It is a different style but has this gentle infectious groove that this quartet decidedly seem to master. The production from Tony Hoffer is pertinent and if you like the likes of Phoenix and others you will appreciate the quality of its work.

"Spend The Night" and "When the Night Comes" are equally strong Pop/Synth tracks which are making this EP more than a business card with 1 track and 3 fillers. All songs can be appreciated for themselves and the attention to detail and song writing is obvious. The neat production helps but the songs are strong enough to carry their own independent groove.

I like those guys. There is not enough cool and talented Pop bands nowadays. I am looking forward to listening to a full length album. In the meantime you can enjoy their video : Believe.
