SHONEN KNIFE Celebrates Their 35th Year With An U.S. Tour

It's been 35 years since their debut in Osaka, Japan and this Fall, legendary pop punk queens SHONEN KNIFE will return to North America in support of their latest album release Adventure on Western NY's Good Charamel Records. The 29 date 2016 North American Tour begins October 4th in San Diego and continues through November 14th in New Jersey including a performance at NYC’s The Knitting Factory.

While Japanese culture has seen growing interest in the Western World as of late, SHONEN KNIFE has enjoyed sharing their ever-evolving career for decades, touring the world with rock royalty such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth, BMX Bandits and Redd Kross. With incendiary and icon-building appearances on Lollapalooza, MTV’s 120 Minutes, Beavis & Butthead as well as a well-received tribute to The Carpenters where they covered "Top of the World", Shonen Knife have secured their rock solid cult status as they march into the future.

The 2016 Adventure album release has already seen the band on tours of Europe and Japan with outstanding reviews. Classic Rock Magazine proclaimed, "Cartoony, authentic, moving and daft, and the true heirs to the Ramones, Shonen Knife are just great." MAGNET Magazine added, "After 35 years, Shonen Knife is still firing on all punk-andgarage-infused six cylinders on the girl trio’s new Adventure album."

This Fall's set lists will draw from the band’s entire career, with material from the band’s earliest releases to the edgier sound of today's Shonen Knife.

INDIE ELECTRONIC ROCKERS NEW DIPLOMAT GEAR UP TO RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE “STAY UP”

San Francisco, CA: Indie alternative rockers NEW DIPLOMAT are gearing up to release “Stay Up,” the debut track from their upcoming EP, Replaced. The accompanying video for “Stay Up” is set to come out a week later, August 5.

The six-song EP was produced by uber-producer Jeff Saltzman, who is best known for his work with The Killers, Fischerspooner, Blondie and more. NEW DIPLOMAT’s individual musical influences, (The Killers, Muse, New Order, The Strokes) each lend a bit of unique flavor to the trio’s sound. NEW DIPLOMAT is: guitarist Paolo Von Giordano, vocalist/bassist Horacio O’Brien-Ferres and drummer/percussionist/synth player Jacob Hartog.

“Stay Up” is a quintessential youth anthem that juxtaposes rock and electronica into 21st Century New Wave. It’s energetic music that you can both sing and dance to. The tune is all about being young: going out every night, falling in and out of love. “Oh I’ve been wasting my whole life/Chasing the next night/I wanted it to be all right.” Its crunchy guitars, undeniably funky bass line, clear vocals and soaring synthesizer riffs make this tune undeniably catchy. "’Stay Up’ is about living at the speed of light and never looking back, even when it's not easy,” explains guitarist Paolo Von Giordano. “It’s about getting over a heartache, finding a new love, making it through a storm and do the things you want to do. I feel like we can all relate to this 21st Century madness!”

Joining forces with uber-producer Jeff Saltzman on this release was a fantastic musical experience for NEW DIPLOMAT. “Working with Jeff on this EP was amazing,” Von Giordano says. “He has this way of identifying a specific musical element that’s special, then seamlessly bringing it back throughout the song. For ‘Stay Up,’ we were messing around with synths at our studio. We were talking about finding a sound that had a certain unique quality, almost confrontational. As soon as we felt the song was ready, we made a demo and sent it to Jeff. He replied immediately with ‘Oh yeah, let's do this!’”

Stay tuned for the entire six-song EP Replaced, set for an August 19 release.

GRAVEL KINGS team with PopMatters to Release cover of NIRVANA's "Come As You Are"

The emotive Americana outfit Gravel Kings have just released a new cover featuring the Nirvana song “Come As You Are.” The band demonstrates their own unique version of the song by flipping the song into what PopMatters calls a, “Brightly-lit yet melancholy piece of rock-band folk.”

“About a year ago we learned how to play it our way while on a Nirvana kick and just always kept it around. It’s fun to jam on, and it surprises the audience,” says lead singer Zack Jones exclusively to PopMatters. “Plus, given Nirvana’s history of not giving a shit, we feel like we have a free pass to mess up on stage for at least one song now.”

The cover was recorded while the group was working on their new upcoming EP Lure, which is set to release on September 9, 2016. The transition from the band’s 2014 full length album Arrows and Maps is unquestionable as they try to create a sound that could resonate in Laurel Canyon, Music Row, and Greenwich Village. In order to achieve their goal, they have joined forces with legendary producer James Paul Wisner (Amy Winehouse, Dashboard Confessional) to create their upcoming EP. “Wisner pushed us extremely hard in the studio,” admits Jones. “He made us realize our potential. He showed us that our songs can always be better. We bought in and walked away with a better understanding of who we are as a band.”

Underneath the exactness of Wisner’s signature polished sound, Lure is blooming with commotion that captures the band’s vivacious dispositions. The EP’s opening track, “You Were Loved”, swells with articulate vocals and trembling, boundless guitar. Propelled by Joey Johnson’s exuberant banjo, “When You’re Gone” slingshots Lure into an Old 97s like sound, which transcends into the following two tracks, “Bones” and “Dead Men”.

Only on the album’s smooth closer “Livin” does Gravel Kings pull away from their driven drum and bass duo of Douglas French and Aaron Teems respectively, dialing down the clamoring of their bluegrass instrument to let the honest and candid storytelling that has run the course of the album, rest softly over old west, saloon style piano.

The intricate arrangement of Wisner’s precision, Gravel Kings’ passion, and Jones’ candid storytelling creates an Americana formula flawlessly acceptable anywhere. The day Lure releases will be the start of the Gravel Kings upcoming tour throughout the Florida area.

Gravel Kings is Zack Jones (vocals/guitar), Joey Johnson (guitar/banjo/dobro), Douglas French (drums) and Aaron Teems (bass). Their new release Lure is set for release on September 9, 2016.

Gravel Kings Live Dates:

09/10/2016 Propaganda Lake Worth, FL
09/11/2016 Spacebar Orlando, FL

Crobot debut new song; "Welcome to Fat City"

Crobot are pleased to unveil their latest song off their new record, "Welcome to Fat City" premiering exclusively on Consequence of Sound. “‘Welcome to Fat City, the title track from our latest album, sets precedent for the groove-laden riffage that takes place throughout the album,” frontman Brandon Yeagley explained to Consequence of Sound. “Inspired by Hunter S Thompson’s campaign for Sheriff of Aspen, Fat City is a planet of sanctuary for the scum of the universe and cigar-smoking big wigs Hunter hoped to keep out of his fine city. Instead, we welcome them with open arms ’cause down here, it’s always gritty. Step right up Beardos and Welcome to Fat City!”

Aussie act, Allday debuts new single "Sides feat. Nyne"

After a meteoric rise in Australia, selling out venues across the country and garnering praise from taste-making radio station, Triple J, Adelaide emcee Allday is quickly garnering a name for himself in the United States.

The now Melbourne based act arrives today with his new song, "Sides feat. Nyne" on Mass Appeal. In a conversation with Mass Appeal, Allday explains what "sides" he's referring to- "I’m talking about being loyal to the people who have always been there for me. The friends who I grew up with and the friends who have my best interests at heart, no matter how crazy or stupid they may be. It’s also about staying true to myself, and not forgetting the type of person I want to be."

"Sides feat. Nyne" is the highly anticipated follow up to Allday's debut LP Startup Cult, released in September 2015 via Wind-up Records. The LP drew attention from the likes of Rolling Stone, Paper Magazine, i-D, NYLON, AV Club and more. "Sides" had it's first spin in the States by none other than Sway In The Morning, who had Allday into his studios on his last New York visit.

Mixed by Rob Kinelski (Big Sean), mastered by Chris Athens (Drake, ILoveMakonnen, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, PartyNextDoor, Childish Gambino), and of course, co-produced by fellow Melbourne-based act, Nyne (recently collaborated OVO producer/writer Sevn Thomas (Rihanna – “Work”, Drake – “Pop Style”), the bass-heavy track will be available to purchase on Friday, July 22.

Jack J Hutchinson's Boom Boom Brotherhood releases debut video

London based guitarist and singer songwriter Jack J Hutchinson's Boom Boom Brotherhood have released their debut video. Love Is Gonna Bring You Home is the first track to be taken from their forthcoming album Set Your Heart For The Sun, due autumn 2016.

British Blues Awards nominated Hutchinson said: "The song started out as a delta blues song in the style of Charley Patton. But once the band (Rick Baxendale on bass and Jim Brazendale on drums) got hold of it and the Marshall stacks were wheeled out it took on a different vibe."

Explaining what to expect from the album, he said: "We have 13 original tracks, going from real heavy rock with a Led Zep, AC/DC feel to Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead style psychedelic blues jams. There's also some softer acoustic material (with special guest harmonica player Tom Brundage) that has a Flying Burrito Bros feel. I always write from a very personal place so the tunes are simply a reflection of where I'm at right now. I went through quite a dark period a few years back but hopefully the album reflects the light at the end of the tunnel."

It's certainly been a busy 18 months for Hutchinson. He was named 'One to watch' by Classic Rock Blues Mag last year, playlisted by BBC Radio 2, received two British Blues Awards nominations and played several hundred gigs across the UK.

"It's been a real blast travelling around the country, meeting so many different people...and drinking my fair share of whisky! I'm hoping to gig in Europe early next year and then hopefully the States at some point. We've had offers from Australia as well so it's going to be busy!"

Love Is Gonna Bring You Home will be released on limited edition vinyl style CD and digital formats on 26 August 2016 here: www.jackjhutchinson.bandcamp.com

Set Your Heart For The Sun will be released in October 2016.

Anti-Pasti - New album 'Rise Up'– Released via Westworld 5th August 2016

Rise Up, the first body of work in over thirty-five years by early eighties punk band anti-pasti will be released on Westworld Recordings on Friday 5th August, 2016 to coincide with the quartet’s now bi-annual appearance at the world famous Rebellion Festival. Never an outfit without a social conscience, the twelve new tracks cover topics including mental illness, addiction, war, and global injustice – all delivered in their own swashbuckling Punk `n` Roll style. Despite line-up changes along the way the main song-writing core remains and some incendiary tunes can be expected.

Anti-Pasti were part of the legendary (according to the thousands of young punks that were there to witness it) Apocalypse Now tour which circumnavigated the UK in 1981. They went on to tour Europe and became the first band of the `second wave` of punk rock to visit the USA, completing a six week round of dates. Their anthem No Government was voted #3 in a punk rock top 100 by readers of the punk rock bible Sounds magazine.

Two albums and five singles were released before the band imploded in 1983. After a brief reconciliation of the five original members in 1996, they reformed as a four piece in 2012 as special guests at Rebellion Festival. European and British dates followed, as did the writing of many of the songs that have made it on to the latest album, before the line-up was finalised as: Kevin Nixon – Drums | Ollie Hoon – Guitars & Vocals | Ben Hanson – Bass & Vocals | Gez Addictive – Vocals

Drummer and spokesman Kevin Nixon commented, `we are thrilled to be invited into the Westworld stable home to such pedigree as Chelsea, the Ruts and Chron Gen. Our new album has the spirit and intensity of the eighties balanced with a more experienced attitude.....without doubt our best to date, and there`s more to come.`
