ALTER BRIDGE - First single "Show Me A Leader" from new album "The Last Hero" premieres on radio stations worldwide

ALTER BRIDGE have announced their fifth studio album, The Last Hero, will be released on October 7 through Napalm Records. The Last Hero is the follow up to 2013's critically acclaimed Fortress, which swept into album charts worldwide - including a #6 slot in the UK, #12 in the US (Billboard 200), #7 in Germany and #4 in Austria.

The band worked with producer and longtime collaborator Michael 'Elvis' Baskette to craft the songs for The Last Hero, recently showcasing those tracks at a special listening party for fans at The Beacham club in the band's home base of Orlando, FL. The sleeve artwork was also revealed.

Pre-orders for the digital album, the CD and limited vinyl editions of The Last Hero went live on July 26.

The first single, “Show Me A Leader”, premieres via radio stations worldwide. “Lyrically, it reflects the frustrations that a lot of people are feeling with the current state of the world,” admits Myles Kennedy about the new single. “The world is looking for trustworthy effective leadership and not this undignified dog and pony show that’s really made a mockery of our system.” “It’s indicative of our process,” Mark Tremonti adds. “Myles had this guitar intro that I loved, and I had the chorus. We put them together. The words call out for a proper leader.”

The band has released an exclusive video visualizer to present the single “Show Me A Leader”. Don’t miss out & hear it for yourself:

The Last Hero's track listing runs as follows:

1) Show Me A Leader 2) The Writing On The Wall 3) The Other Side 4) My Champion 5) Poison In Your Veins 6) Cradle To The Grave 7) Losing Patience 8) This Side Of Fate 9) You Will Be Remembered 10) Crows On A Wire 11) Twilight 12) Island Of Fools 13) The Last Hero 14) Last of Our Kind (bonus track)

THE BREVET Release Live One-Take Music Video For "Hold On" On PopMatters

Irvine, CA: Cinematic Americana outfit The Brevet have just released a new music video for their song “Hold On”, which PopMatters called, “anthemic acoustic guitar driving the song forward with verve.” The song is the second single off the band’s upcoming EP Embers, dropping August 5th.

The song demonstrates the group’s unique and intricate songwriting capabilities, which sends a deep message to all listeners. “I wrote this when trying to figure out if I still wanted to pursue this career,” says lead singer Aric Chase Damm exclusively to PopMatters. “There is a line in it that says 'Hold on to me' and most people assume that’s meant in a romantic way. It’s meant to mean hold on to the pieces that make you you and don't get swayed by all of the other distractions.”

“Hold On” starts with a beautiful melody on the acoustic guitar that gradually leads to what is known as The Brevet’s classic sound of booming harmonies and uplifting lyrics. Instead of the usual produced music video that dubs the original song, The Brevet display their true artistic talent by playing the song live and getting it down perfectly in one take.

"It’s funny. We had actually planned for a entirely different video with our director and good friend Sarah Wilson Thacker. It was suppose to be an outside shoot but when we got to the location and saw how windy it was we knew it wouldn't work for a live performance,” explains Damm to PopMatters. “Sarah, the guys, and I headed back to our studio space which was in the process of being torn down. She came up with the idea of shooting a one-take (no cuts or edits) right there. Probably the most fun we’ve had filming a video!”

The music video’s live setting demonstrates symbolism amongst the song itself. Without the production or orchestra involved, listeners get to experience a rare, raw, and live music video that shows the humanistic part of music that does not appear on most videos. Aric Chase Damm and Michael Jones started making music together while they were both attending grade school. Although they eventually separated and went to different colleges, they were still able to continue working together during their time off. Throughout college, Damm and Jones both wrote scores for student films, which lead to the creation of the band’s big cinematic sound. The band eventually moved to Los Angeles where they added drummer David Aguiar and bassist Ben Ross to The Brevet.

The Brevet is currently touring this Summer throughout the US festival circuit with more upcoming dates to be announced.

The Brevet is Aric Chase Damm (lead vocals/guitar), Michael Jones (backing vocals, piano), David Aguiar (backing vocals, drums, percussion), and Ben Ross (bass, backing vocals). Their new EP Embers will be released on August 5, 2016.

ENTER SHIKARI RELEASE THE MINDSWEEP TOUR - DOCUMENTARY

February 2016; Enter Shikari head out on a tour of the UK, taking in some of the biggest venues they have ever headlined in their decade-long career.

In the DIY fashion that the band have become synonymous with, the video screen content and programming for the front of house quadrophonic audio system has all been created and slaved over for months by the band themselves. Wary of the potential disaster / glorious victory that lies ahead, but never ones to shy away from lifting the curtain to show the inner-workings of their endeavours, the band consider it a wise move to ensure someone is on hand to capture it all on video.

Enter Shikari met photographer / videographer Alexey Makhov on one of their now regular trips to Russia; so when he mentioned his availability prior to the tour, it struck everyone as a no-brainer.

The resulting 30 minute mini-documentary mixes beautifully shot & edited live footage, behind the scenes access, and candid interviews with the band; following them from the tour’s production rehearsals right through to its conclusion at a sold out show at London’s 9000 capacity Alexandra Palace.

The full film can be viewed here:

Frontman Rou Reynolds had this to say on the subject ; “It was great to have Alexy along to document the biggest tour of our lives. He captured both the tension behind the scenes and the emotional release on stage perfectly! "

The band recently released the only usable surviving full live track footage from the Alexandra Palace show (don’t ask. technical issues) in the form of a live version of Redshift, edited by Rou and with audio mixed by guitarist Rory C. you can see that here

A full audio recording of the Alexandra Palace show, however, DOES exist, and has now been mixed and mastered. Details of what will be happening with that will be forthcoming shortly. Enter Shikari have a small number of European festival dates remaining this summer, along with an outdoor headline show at Budapest’s Barba Nagra Track, before heading to Japan and finally rounding off their live 2016 with a short Australian run.

New single ‘Dance With Me’ from Portsmouth rockers Free From Gravity

Portsmouth rock four-piece Free From Gravity gear up for the release of their upcoming EP with this new upbeat single ‘Dance With Me’. The track sports a catchy chorus and some summery punky guitars. A music video is set to come out in June. Listen to the single:

Playing a style of music they call ‘Kick Assed Chilled Out Rock’ (or Soft Rock With Attitude), the band have proved that they are just as capable at writing fun guitar anthems as they are writing emotional ballads, their last single ‘The Long Road’ inspired by frontman Vince’s mother and her battle with cancer.

In the last few months they have played several live venues including The Bedford Live in London, the Vikings Motorcycle Club Rally and the Centurion in Waterlooville. The band are set to play a number of festivals this year including Hoefest in Waterlooville, Gosport festival on July August 6th, Willow Festival in Dorset on September 18th, plus a load of other gigs in the pipeline.

Alongside these exciting live dates, Free From Gravity have also hinted that they will be playing several guerrilla gigs across the South Coast of England. The exact location of these guerrilla gigs will be kept a secret, the band announcing each one hour before on Facebook (so fans will need to keep a keen eye on their Facebook page!)

The band’s upcoming EP is set to include the singles ‘Dance With Me’, ‘Crazy Lady’, ‘Step Into The Sunlight’ and ‘Saints and Sinners’.

SHVPES frontman, Griffin, says: “As a concept, this album is about finding the beauty in whatever situation you’re in. Your ability to feel pain/ to feel despair is ultimately what allows you to embrace the feeling of joy or ecstasy. It’s like yin & yang. ‘Pain. Joy. Ecstacy. Despair.’ gave me a platform to expel 24 years’ worth of frustration and turn it into something positive; something I can be proud of and something, I hope, the listener can find solace in.

From our eclectic musical influences to the incredibly personal, vulnerable, yet empowering lyrical content, we’ve managed to create something that is perfectly in balance with our own musical tastes. To be able to put out our most honest work to date, at this point, is a dream come true. There really is something for everyone on this record and we can’t wait for you all to hear it!”

On the live front, SHVPES will be appearing as sole support to ASKING ALEXANDRIA at two very special SOLD OUT UK shows this summer.

Hunter & The Bear, one of the UK’s most exciting new bands and pioneers of a long anticipated resurgence of rock & roll, have just dropped their brand new single. Hunter & The Bear are a four-piece whose combination of melodic sensibility with riff-laden tunes represents the very best of guitar-driven music today. While the biting tones and driving rhythms of ‘Renegade’ stay true to hard-edged origins, for Hunter & The Bear the song is king. In a move that is typical of the band’s hard working ethos, summer 2016 will see Hunter & The Bear set out on an exciting and highly ambitious project. Anticipating their first full length record in early 2017, Hunter & TheBear will release one single a month, to give audiences a teasing insight into the band at work as they develop their increasingly mature and compelling sound. ‘Renegade’ - the first single from the project - is a fast-paced, fist-pumping track that shows all the hallmarks of a modern rock classic.

BROKEN HOPE - EXCLUSIVE play-through of KIRK HAMMETT 'Nosferatu' guitar, used during METALLICA's 'Too Heavy 4 Halftime' set

BROKEN HOPE Guitarist Jeremy Wagner has just premiered an in-depth play-through video featuring the ultimate shredder the 'NOSFERATU' Limited-Edition ESP/LTD he received from the one and only KIRK VON HAMMETT of METALLICA! The guitar is number 11 of 13 signed versions AND was played during METALLICA's Too Heavy 4 Halftime set.

Watch Jeremy’s metal-and-horror-tinged play-through of this guitar right now exclusively via ESP Guitars here:

"I have a deep passion for ESP guitars. I've been playing ESP for 29 years--on every BROKEN HOPE album and on every worldwide stage I've ever played in my career. I also have a deep passion for horror movies and horror memorabilia. And like me, my pal, KIRK HAMMETT, is an ESP player and ‘horror kid’ of the highest order! And to that end, Kirk’s combined both HORROR and GUITARS into a 'Nosferatu' Limited-Edition ESP/LTD that he whipped up in his laboratory. Between the vintage Nosferatu ‘Count Orlock’ movie artwork down to the stellar features that make up the specs of this instrument, this a VERY special guitar that is badass through and through—and I should know, because I own one—and it plays amazing and also gives me the CREEPS—and that's a good thing!" states Jeremy Wagner regarding the ‘Nosferatu' Limited-Edition ESP/LTD.

ROKEN HOPE are currently in the studio recording their 7th album and follow up to their critically acclaimed release, ‘Omen of Disease’. The forthcoming BH release possesses an extra-special touch as ALL of Jeremy Wagner’s guitar tracks will feature him using ONLY the original JEFF HANNEMAN SLAYER guitars he acquired from HANNEMAN’s estate last year. “These famous axes have already inspired and channeled many of the riffs I wrote for the next full-length.” explains Jeremy.

GERMAN ELECTRONIC-ROCK DUO BULLET HEIGHT RELEASES “HOLD TOGETHER (DJ HYPER REMIX)”

Berlin-based electronic-rock duo BULLET HEIGHT, featuring Sammi Doll of IAMX and Jon Courtney of Pure Reason Revolution, have released a stunning electronica remix by DJ Hyper for their new single, “Hold Together,” out now via Superball Music (Matt Skiba & The Sekrets, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Dredg, and more).

The full single is available on all digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and more, and features “Hold Together,” the DJ Hyper remix, and another another remix of the track by Texan producer ArtVersusIndustry. “When I was sent the Bullet Height material, I knew this was a band whose music made sense to me,” comments DJ Hyper on working with Bullet Height. “It’s exactly the sort of music I would choose to listen to and the ideas for the remix came thick and fast. I’ve aimed to counterpoint beautiful melody with aggression and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s one of my favourite remixes of recent years.”

The band added: “Hyper makes brooding electronic beasts – anyone that’s not heard the albums ‘Lies’ or ‘Bully’ absolutely needs to! When the remix came back we were blown away – it struck the perfect tone & vibe. There’s already been talk of a collaboration on his upcoming material, which we’re super excited about.”

A pioneering British electronica and breakbeats DJ, Hyper is both prolific and critically acclaimed, previously working with the likes of The Prodigy, Paul Van Dyk and more. His 2013 award-nominated album ‘Lies’(which featured two Beatport #1’s) was followed up quickly with the ground-breaking and beautiful ‘Symphony Of Lies’ which saw eight of the original album tracks broken down and reinterpreted with strings and sound design as a total juxtaposition to the standard dance floor remix package.

Hyper’s music has been featured on Orange Is The New Black, BBC 6 Nations television coverage and the IMAX trailer for the Everest movie, with remixes for Kelis and Killaflaw also under his belt. His latest studio album (2015’s ‘Bully’) featured Neil Ormandy fresh from his work with Eric Prydz and the stunning voice of Robert Shields, and was widely hailed as a return to form. Bullet Height, meanwhile, recently released theofficial video for ‘Hold Together,’ filmed on location in Berlin by director and long-time artistic collaborator Valquire Veljkovic.

The new track shows yet another side to the increasingly apparent songwriting talents of band members Jon Courtney (Pure Reason Revolution) and Sammi Doll (IAMX), pulling in the heavier elements in the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and The Prodigy, and blending them with the hard techno sounds of Gesaffelstein, Gatekeeper, and the brooding, sexual underbelly of Berlin’s macabre underground dance music scene.

Look out for more news on Bullet Height in the coming months.

‘Hold Together’ track list:

1. Hold Together 2. Hold Together (DJ Hyper Remix) 3. Hold Together (ArtVersusIndustry Remix)

A mini documentary exploring the group’s formation and their Berlin base can be seen here:
