The Mission new album, "Another Fall From Grace" released 30th Sept featuring Gary Numan, Martin Gore (Depeche Mode), Ville Valo (HIM), Julianne Regan (All About Eve) & Evi Vine
The Mission release their new album, "Another Fall From Grace" on 30th September 2016. Another Fall From Grace was produced by Wayne Hussey and Tim Palmer and features guest backing vocals from Gary Numan, Martin Gore (Depeche Mode), Ville Valo (HIM), Julianne Regan (All About Eve) & Evi Vine.
“For me, this new Mission album is the long lost missing link between the Sisters Of Mercy’s First & Last & Always and The Mission’s God’s Own Medicine, both albums of course that I was heavily involved in making. I set out this time with the intention of making an album that sounds like 1985. The fact that I feel this has largely been achieved is down to my renewed love for the jingle jangle shimmer of the electric 12 string guitar which featured heavily on those two previously mentioned albums and now the new Mission album.
This is a dark album although I didn’t set out with that intention, it’s just the way things unfolded. I know I did go a little crazy and even a little paranoid during the recording of this album, certainly my mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well being all suffered during the course of it. And I think that has informed both the music and the lyrics. So much of this was done in isolation - from the world, from my family, from my friends, and even from my band mates. I can’t say it’s an album I enjoyed making but it is an album I needed to make. It is with huge relief that I can now say it is finished and maybe it’s like an acute pain that you have that once it’s gone you can’t remember how it felt. I hope so as I would like one day to feel the fondness for this record that it maybe deserves.” Wayne Hussey Aug 2016
Another Fall From Grace will be available on CD, DL and 180 gram vinyl plus ltd edition DELUXE double CD and DVD. The deluxe version contains full album on CD, an instrumental version of the album with bonus remix track ‘Met-Amor-Phosis’ and a 93 minute DVD featuring never before seen footage from 1987 of The Mission performing at Elland Road, Leeds, supporting U2, Aston Villa Leisure Centre as The Metal Gurus and The Royal Court in Liverpool for the Hillsborough benefit gig, both from 1989, producer Tim Palmer’s home footage of the recording of ‘Carved in Sand’ /’Butterfly on a Wheel’ video, and the promo video for new single Met-Amor-Phosis.
On September 2nd The Mission release the gloriously melodramatic Met-Amor-Phosis, the first single from their forthcoming new album. Co-Produced by Tim Palmer and Wayne Hussey, Met-Amor-Phosis features backing vocals by HIM front man Ville Valo and marks a return for The Mission to their classic anthemic swagger and bombast. The Met-Amor-Phosis digital only single includes a haunting acoustic version by Wayne Hussey and a high energy club version called, ‘The Black Star Remix’ by Evansson.
Met-Amor-Phosis emerged following a coastal drive from LA to San Francisco, explains Wayne - “Bowie had just died and whilst the first verse is mostly autobiographical having also recently read Kafka’s novel of the same title the second verse is certainly flavoured by Bowie’s passing’’.
Feast your eyes now on the sumptuous ‘Met-Amor-Phosis’ video:

'...It does not matter if nothing matters' - this is the opening on track 1 on an album called x Infinity by Watsky and I knew I would instantly like this LP. I was not too sure initially when Dani, our Chief Editor, asked me to review this album. I was honest in saying that I am no expert in the Hip Hop field, despite absolutely loving the Roots: J5 and my all-time favourite Lewis Parker.
But this is not a genre exercise with all its clichés and references. It’s musical, emotional, and fun! Maybe Watsky did not choose Hip Hop - I think Hip Hop has chosen him as I cannot help thinking: this is just a channel for the multitalented and versatile artist. In absolute terms: Watsky is a little music genius and limiting x Infinity to the Hip Hop-Sphere would be a big mistake!!!
Helped by long-time supporters Russel Simmons and Kush Mody all the tracks have a distinct identity, including the ambitious 4 pieces’ suite called 'Lovely Things'; a mash up of Classic and Jazz piano with some touches of Trip Hop.
Personally I like 'Chemical Angel' with its Beatles like flavour. I also appreciate 'Love Letters' and obviously 'Stick to Your Guns' with its intelligent remarks on one of the most sensitive issue of the US society at the moment.
The 'Spring Time in New York' intro reminds me of a soft FLC while the hilarious hit 'Pink Lemonade'/Invisible Inc is full of surprises from a lyrics perspective. The album concludes with track 18 'Exquisite Corpse'... a title that would sit well on an Eminem effort... Now I am unsure Watsky would find the comparison glorious but listen to it and let me know.
Eclectic, subversive, passionate and poetic - this collection of music stamps is incredibly relevant to our times. The music keeps growing on you and each time you listen to a track you discover an angle you have not come across the previous time.
Overall: Thumbs Up
If I was to pick 3 only: Stick To Your Guns, Chemical Angel and Exquisite Corpse
Live Test: I don’t know. I would be curious to see that guy on stage.

After topping the rock charts in 2014 and 2015, The Pretty Reckless returns with their extraordinary third studio album Who You Selling For, due October 21st on Virgin EMI. The new album is the band’s anticipated third studio album and the follow up to Going To Hell, which spawned the biggest rock song of 2014 in “Heaven Knows” and a total of three #1 Mainstream and Active Rock hits. The first single from the new album, “Take Me Down,” premiered worldwide July 15th on iHeart Radio and impacted at rock radio four shortly after. Listen to the new single:
Produced by longtime collaborator Kato Khandwala, Who You Selling For is an arresting collection of rock tunes that expand the band’s sound to encompass soulful, bluesy undertones, written by front woman Taylor Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips. This raucous 12-track collection puts Momsen’s dark lyrics and raw, charismatic vocals on full display while the band delivers at full intensity with a level of musicianship that raises the bar.
Formed in 2009, The Pretty Reckless released their debut album Light Me Up in 2010 scoring legions of fans worldwide, but it was their sophomore record Going to Hell that positioned the band to become the first new artist to breakout of rock in years, debuting in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Top 200. Achieving three #1 Rock hits - “Heaven Knows,” “Fucked Up World” and “Follow Me Down”- was a feat that has not been accomplished by a female fronted group since The Pretenders in 1984, nearly a quarter of a century ago.
Despite feeling the physical and emotional demands from their epic two-year run supporting Going to Hell, Momsen and Phillips jumped right into writing the songs for the new album. “We had so much we wanted to say, it was like shaking a can of soda on tour, and then when we started writing we cracked the seal,” says Momsen. “The touring life is very isolating. You look at the world through a bus or airplane window. But music is the healing factor. It’s the one thing that is grounding and a true companion through the forest. It saved us – again.”
With Who You Selling For the band continues to take bold steps forward, cementing their place at the forefront of rock. The deeply personal album features a diverse set of standout tracks, from the blistering hard rock of “Oh My God” to the classic southern rock of “Back to the River”. Lead single “Take Me Down” features Taylor’s distinctively smoky voice rolling over ‘60s – tinged rock guitar. Loudwire says, “‘Take Me Down’ features a bit of rasp and a soulful delivery from Momsen, while guitarist Ben Phillips gets a solid mid-song riffing showcase that raises the track to a new level. Add in some backing organ playing and you’ve got a blistering new song from the band.”
Coheed and Cambria are pleased to announce today a special "Deconstructed Deluxe" edition of their eighth studio album, The Color Before The Sun, due for digital release on August 19 via 300 Entertainment.
The 30 track presentation features the original album's 10 songs, both in the studio, and in their early acoustic demo form, as well as two bonus demos that were never recorded in the studio. The demos, called, “Big Beige/4th St,” were named after band frontman, Claudio Sanchez's home, “The Big Beige” in upstate NY as well as his old apartment in Brooklyn, “4th Street” - since he wrote and tracked them in each residence. These acoustic demo tracks had previously only been made available to core fans who purchased the band’s Limited Edition Deluxe Box set, which featured a 76 page physical book. Also included in “Deconstructed” are 7 live “bootleg" tracks pulled straight from the soundboard from various dates on their recent US headline tour, that expose a very raw look at the band.
Coheed and Cambria’s ten song album, The Color Before The Sun was released in October 2015 via 300 Entertainment, marking a bold departure for the NY-based band. It was their first non-conceptual album, pausing the beloved The Amory Wars, a seven-album science fiction saga that also bore a comic book empire, in favor of a more personal outing. “It’s very much a time capsule of the two years leading up to this recording,” Claudio Sanchez said. “I first created The Amory Wars in 1998 because at the time, I was afraid to share my personal stories. I didn’t want them or the subject matter to be judged, so I translated my personal experiences into these fictitious characters and landscapes so I could hide behind them. With The Color Before the Sun, I figured it was time to pull back the curtain."
Rolling Stone declared The Color Before The Sun “a dramatic departure,” Noisey said the new album proves “there are no boundaries for a Coheed and Cambria album” and Alternative Press, in a four-star review, added “the album pops and pulsates with signature Coheed wails and riffs.” The Nerdist, who premiered the band’s ode to the ‘80s video for “You Got Spirit, Kid”, said the new music “features much of what has made Coheed and Cambria a force for the last two decades.”
The Color Before The Sun was Coheed and Cambria's 6th consecutive Top 10 Billboard charting album, and their third to debut at #5 on the Billboard top current chart with 32,000 units sold. The record is available now via 300 Entertainment and can be purchased on iTunes, Amazon and GooglePlay.
Coheed and Cambria will be on the road in The States this Fall, on a massive tour with Saves The Day and Polyphia. Kicking off in Seattle this September, the tour takes the band through U.S. markets including a sold out show in Sacramento, Chainfest in Santa Ana, CA (with Portugal the Man and Title Fight), a handful of stops in Canada and closing out with an already sold out show at Starland Ballroom in New Jersey.
The band will also be touring through the UK this August, appearing at Leeds and Reading Festival, with additional dates with La Dispute and mewithoutYou.

Los Angeles, CA: LAYNE is proud to announce that the band’s highly anticipated debut EP The Black Hills is set to release Friday, August 26th. The five track EP features the band’s signature dystopian indie-pop sound that was previously portrayed in their viral hits “Somebody” and “Good”, which have received over 1 million Spotify streams.
"The Black Hills EP is a collection of songs written over the past year and an introduction to LAYNE,” says lead singer-songwriter, Layne Putnam. “It is a place where we can be alone together. Welcome to the in-between.” Within the EP, Putnam performed/recorded all the instruments on each track and also co-produced it alongside Los Angeles engineer/producer, Devon Corey.
In writing the EP, Putnam was inspired by her surrounding environment, from the busy streets of Los Angeles to the ominous Black Hills mountain range in her beloved hometown of Rapid City, South Dakota. The dynamic of these environments has shaped the sound in this EP to bridge the depth of her lyrics, with opposing themes of loneliness and community, peace and war, and love gained and lost. Tracks like the catchy “Topical” and “Boys Do” showcase Putnam’s uncanny ability to write strong hooks and choruses, while tracks like “You” and “Phone” embody her gift for pop melodies that songwriters work their entire lives to achieve. Putnam also made an effort to subtly immortalize her home into her music, Putnam recorded the sound of her childhood lake into songs like “Twuh.”
In promotion of the upcoming release, LAYNE will be playing numerous cities around the US through the end of the year, making stops in New York, Chicago, Denver, and Kansas City at the end of the month, and further give fans an introduction into ‘the in-between’. More cities and dates to be announced.
LAYNE is Layne Putnam and Alexander Rosca. Their EP The Black Hills will be independently released August 26th.
