TENGGER CAVALRY Announces North American Headline Tour with Support from FELIX MARTIN and HELSOTT



Last week, it was announced that June 2, 2017 will mark the release of Global Music Award-winning nomadic folk metal group TENGGER CAVALRY's upcoming full-length album, Die On My Ride. The band is thrilled to announce that just a day after album drops, they will kick off a 25+ date North American headline tour featuring support from Venezuelan world music/progressive fusion guitarist Felix Martin and pagan folk metal group Helsott.

The tour will begin in Montreal, QC on June 3 and visit several other major Canadian and U.S. cities before coming to an end on July 8 in Manchester, NH (Helsott will appear June 18-June 27). See below for a full listing of dates.

Each night on tour, fans can look forward to hearing TENGGER CAVALRY favorites and new tracks from the band's aforementioned new album, Die On My Ride. The new album expands on the band's celebrated, exotic metal-meets-Mongolian/Central Asian musical influence and lyrical explorations of tradition, history and warfare by delving into more topical themes of personally-experienced racial discrimination, identity conflicts and equal rights issues.

Die On My Ride was self-produced at Nature G's production studio Raiding Media, and is available to pre-order now in both physical CD and vinyl format via M-Theory Audio or digitally via the band's Bandcamp page.

Die On My Ride is TENGGER CAVALRY's first album available in vinyl format, as well as their first album to be released with M-Theory Audio - the new label recently launched by Marco Barbieri, former president of Century Media Records and Nuclear Blast America. The album is distributed by AISA/RED in North America.

Ten Foot Pole Announce New Album 'Setlist', Out May 26 via Cyber Tracks

California melodic punk band TEN FOOT POLE has announced the release of their new album Setlist, out on May 26 via Los Angeles based record label, Cyber Tracks. For their first album in over a decade, Ten Foot Pole knew they wanted to give back to their fans after years of their loyalty. Produced and mixed by Kyle Black (New Found Glory, Strung Out), the 13 tracks featured on Setlist pay homage to the legendary California punk scene - a journey through the eyes of a band who has toured relentlessly on three continents, performing with the likes of NOFX, The Offspring, and Rancid, to name a few. Longtime fans can note the quality of the album simply through the crisp guitar licks and definition in Jagard’s voice.

Ryan Hamilton & The Traitors announce August UK tour & unveil new video



Texas based singer/songwriter Ryan Hamilton and his band The Traitors are proud to announce an 8 date UK tour in August and promise the shows will be “as close to a drunken rock n roll show in a Texas saloon that folks can get in the UK. Drinks, music, friends. good vibes and good times all around.” To celebrate the forthcoming tour Ryan Hamilton & The Traitors unveil the official video for infectious single Heavy Heart:


The video captures perfectly the contrast of the different kinds of beauty in the UK, filmed in a nature reserve near Ashy De La Zouch, and then capturing great street art in Manchester.

Heavy Heart is taken from the new album The Devil’s In The Detail , which is an uplifting and energetic yet sensitive record, that celebrates music and storytelling. The 12 finely crafted songs, clearly represent Ryan Hamilton and The Traitors distinctive mix of melodic pop and rock. Aside from Ryan the album features UK musicians, including Ginger Wildheart – who handpicked Ryan & The Traitors as his main tour support in 2016 and plays lead guitar on the majority of the tracks. Scottish singer/songwriter Chrissy Barnacle also provides velvety backing vocals and duets on Don’t Say I Told You So.

The Devil’s In The Detail, recorded in Scotland in a “building that's older than America” with producer Dave Draper, perfectly captures the bands live sound. “It's the first album I've ever made where I haven't wanted to go back and make changes.” explains Ryan “For me, it's a wonderful marriage of pop, rock & country. Something really cool happens when you bring my classic rock, hair metal loving British band mates, and my old school country, pop/rock loving Texan self together. It shouldn't come together as organically as it does, but it works, and we love it.”

THE LUMINEERS ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE RECORD STORE DAY RELEASE ‘SEEDS’ 10” SET FOR RELEASE 22nd APRIL



Grammy-nominated Americana stars The Lumineers today announce the release of ‘Seeds’, an exclusive 10” vinyl set to be released in conjunction with Record Store Day. The limited edition release from the critically-lauded Denver-based outfit shows the progression of two of the most popular tracks from their No.1 sophomore album ‘Cleopatra’ (‘Angela’ and ‘Long Way From Home’) from initial demo, through recording to the live entity.

‘Angela’ is a subtle and restrained classic folk-rock song, which could have come straight out of Laurel Canyon in the late 60s-70s. It builds and crescendos seemingly lost in the vault of classic songwriting reappearing in 2017 as ageless and compelling. The 405 labelling the piece as “...the perfect example of The Lumineers' commitment to working through quality material that they believe in.”

The other offering on ‘Seeds’, ‘Long Way From Home’, displays the band’s uncompromising songwriting & emotional prowess in full force, centred on a simple picked guitar line and frontman Wesley Schultz' voice, lyricism & storytelling centre stage.

Discussing the release, Schultz shared, “With ‘Angela’, you'll hear how lyrics change and bridges and verses are moved around. And with ‘Long Way From Home’ you'll hear an entire intro, i.e. a brand new part of the song that was omitted on the studio album, but can be heard in the live version.”

‘Seeds’ will be released on Record Store Day on Saturday 22nd April and you can find it at your local (participating) record store HERE.

The Lumineers are currently in the midst of an extensive North American arena tour in support of last year’s #1 album ‘Cleopatra’, which was described by The Evening Standard as “Echo-laden, sparse Americana illuminated by Wesley Schultz’s remarkable voice.” The band’s current live plot on The Cleopatra World tour has seen them play to adoring fans all over, including two sold out nights at the legendary Madison Square Garden. The band will return to London this summer with an appearance at Hyde Park’s British Summer Time Series (appearing alongside similarly-revered songwriters Stevie Nicksand Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers). Following that The Lumineers hit the road and will perform in stadiums opening up 13 shows with U2.

THE LOUNGE KITTENS release new video for ‘Yeah’ originally by Usher



Taken from their debut album ‘Sequins & C-Bombs’, released last year on Grweat Records, The Lounge Kittens have selected Usher’s ultimate club banger ‘Yeah’ for their latest video offering.

Taking on the roles of Usher, Lil’ John and Ludacris the video sees the girls raising the roof of London’s legendary Dingwalls venue, transforming it into a sizzling hot nightclub with the help of some of their most dedicated fans. During their hugely successful PledgeMusic campaign, Kitten fans were given the chance to be in one of their now infamous videos; a chance which they relished. “The fans were AMAZING.” says Jen, Red Kitten. “We weren’t sure what to expect after giving them the brief but they did not disappoint. They threw themselves into everything we asked them to with typical C-Bomb Squad attitudes – just awesome.”

“Yeah was always going to get the TLK video treatment,” says Blue Kitten, Timia. “It’s such a stand out track for us as we love singing Ludacris’ filthy rap. It’s so challenging to perform live. But the video was a great excuse to mix things up again and try out a different style, particularly when it came to our characters. It was a real pleasure to dance about in trainers without a stiletto in sight!”

After 12 long years, Brooklyn hard rock legends LIFE OF AGONY are finally back with their brand new album A Place Where There's No More Pain, which is set to be released April 28th via Napalm Records. So far, 2 songs from the album have been released to the public, the title track 'A Place Where There’s No More Pain', as well as the band's just recently premiered single for 'World Gone Mad'. "The message behind ‘World Gone Mad’ could not be more relevant to what's going on all over this planet right now. People are more divided than ever, and if we continue to ignore the fact that this world is busting at its seams and just continue to "stick our heads underground," like the lyrics suggest, we will see a madness in our lifetime like we've never experienced before,” explained bassist Alan Robert just recently. He continues: "With the 'World Gone Mad' video, we were really looking to break out of the typical performance video approach to capture a high concept visual. Mt. Wolf share stunning new video for 'Heavenbound' - Album out May 26th

Mt. Wolf are delighted to share their new video for 'Heavenbound' on The Independent today. Taken from the forthcoming album - due out May 26th on CRC Music.


London’s Mt. Wolf have experienced much since their early days as a band – line-up changes, enviable hype and interest and, most of all, a sense of expectation that has never left them. With upcoming debut album “Aetherlight” set to not only meet but exceed those tall expectations, they released the emotive and thought-provoking video to the anthemic “Heavenbound”. The song owes a melodic debt to the literate, epic songcraft of Echo & The Bunnymen and The National while retaining the sky-scraping atmospherics that have become the band’s trademark, capturing the band at perhaps their most anthemic yet. Visually, the short films captures that same ethereal connection as it charts a man’s final minutes, projecting the sense that love will always be so much stronger than hate.

The director James Ayling, of Cape Films, says of the video: “I think everyone will have their own interpretation of the video. For me, it was about the idea of death acting as a force to unite people. For some death offers the chance to reflect and ask for forgiveness; for others, it provides an opportunity to find peace and the ability to forgive.”

And this from Mt. Wolf frontman and album co-producer Bassi: “Heavenbound deals with the different journeys entangled with death. The song is largely about letting go and moving on, while the video takes a slightly different approach: compassion, forgiveness and unconditional love for others can triumph in the face of hate and violence.”

Our first taste of “Aetherlight” was the 6 minute opus “The Electric” and alongside the video for “Heavenbound” the album is now available to pre-order direct from their label CRC Music.

Patience has been the key, as the band worked tirelessly behind the scenes towards the all-encompassing sound for their new material that they had always aimed for. After a productive 12 months with super-producer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, M83, Daughter) they have returned with a debut album that confirms that sound is now very much realised.

UNKLE Announce New Album "THE ROAD PART 1" Out June 23rd



After a rollercoaster twenty-five year career as an artist, curator, and tastemaker, James Lavelle returns with UNKLE’s fifth studio album, The Road Part 1. The Road Part 1 is a collection of fifteen new UNKLE tracks inspired following his curation of 2014’s Meltdown Festival at Southbank, their most successful festival to date. It is a collective creative venture by musicians including London folk-rock artist and poet Keaton Henson, Primal Scream’s Andrew Innes, The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss, long time UNKLE collaborator Mark Lanegan, and Mercury Prize nominee ​ESKA.

Lavelle also found new friends and collaborators in Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore and Beck drummer Justin Stanley, who make definitive contributions throughout the record.

Recorded in UK, Europe and Los Angeles’ Pink Duck Studios, The Road Part 1 is the product of a desire to create something fresh and innovative, that also celebrates the rich history of UNKLE, and showcases a new wave of talent such as ​Elliott Power, Mïnk and YSEÉ. The album also features long-term collaborators Philip Sheppard, Chris Goss, Twiggy and Troy Van Leeuwen. Lavelle set out to make a record that tapped into the multicultural landscape of modern London. His mission was to unite the eclectic mix of ideas, cultures and genres under the UNKLE umbrella and create something unique.

James Lavelle praises the role of collaboration, and its importance at the core of the project: “I hadn’t made a record in a long time, and the incarnation of UNKLE had changed in that now, it was me on my own. For that reason, I wanted to make a record that I hadn’t been able to before, going back to the roots of where I came from, with a foot in modern London.” In July of last year UNKLE released their first single in seven years. teaming up with Elliott Power, Mïnk and YSEÉ for the gospel-infused "Cowboys or Indians". Followed by "Sick Lullaby" in February 2017, his second collaboration with Keaton Henson. "Sick Lullaby" is tender and cinematic - a beautiful lullaby that empowers Henson’s delicate vocals.

The latest track from The Road Part 1, "Looking For The Rain," is a call to arms in our turbulent modern world, written by Mark Lanegan with string arrangements by Will Malone (Massive Attack, Unfinished Symphony and UNKLE's "Lonely Soul", amongst others). Creative visual collaborations are a core part of the immersive experience The Road Part 1 offers. Following the immense success of his critically acclaimed exhibition Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick last summer at Somerset House, Lavelle continued his collaborative relationship with esteemed artists throughout the creation of The Road Part 1. The release will include cinematic and thought-provoking official videos from artists and visionaries including Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones ("Cowboys or Indians", "Sick Lullaby"); Norbert Schroener ("The Road"); and many more to be revealed.

The official video for the album’s title track "The Road", directed by German filmmaker Norbert Schoerner, has also been premiered exclusively on It’s Nice That. The collaboration follows from Schoerner’s involvement with James Lavelle's Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick exhibition.



The footage was filmed by using a drone to explore the stark American wilderness. Norbert Schoerner and James Lavelle have created a film that in Schoerner’s own words “describes the ever present conflict between natural landscape and human progress”. The masterfully curated list of visual collaborators extends to the physical release of The Road Part 1. The cover art is from a painting by German contemporary artists Jonas Burgert. The 36-page booklet features artwork by contemporary luminaries including Turner Prize nominee Nathan Coley, John Isaacs, David Nicholson, Norbert Schoerner, Doug Foster, Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones. It was designed by James Lavelle and up-and-coming designer George Stewart-Lockhart.

In the twenty years since UNKLE’s debut album Psyence Fiction, Lavelle has been prolific. He created four studio albums with UNKLE (Psyence Fiction, Never Never Land, War Stories and Where Did The Night Fall), a host of critically acclaimed film scores, and curated a series of art exhibitions through Daydreaming With..., most notably, the hugely successful Daydreaming With Stanley Kubrick exhibition at Somerset House, and his latest exhibition Daydreaming with UNKLE Presents THE ROAD: SOHO at the Lazarides Gallery earlier this year.

The exhibition at the Lazarides Gallery was a celebration of 25 years of UNKLE, and whilst The Road Part 1 may be their fifth studio album, it is in many ways a new beginning. With shows booked throughout the year and The Road Part 2 already in the making, it feels that even after 25 years, the road for UNKLE has only just begun.

New single from tropical surf rock collective Salt Petal



Los Angeles-based collective Salt Petal is invigorating audiences and critics alike with a tropical surf-dance sound in a category all its own. A cross-border combination of Argentinian folk, Brazilian tropicalia, cumbia and up tempo surf rock blurs ethnic and musical boundaries, bringing to mind Blondie, Os Mutantes, Gal Costa, and 60′s rock and roll. The band’s sound is one of the freshest to come out of Los Angeles, showcasing deep South American rhythms with vibrant indie pop harmonies and textures.

Founding members, Autumn Harrison and Rodrigo Gonzalez started the band after a trip to Buenos Aires, where their late night singalong sessions turned into the beginning of their first record. After performing in small cafes and receiving positive responses from musician friends, they began to play bigger stages and soon became one of the most sought after festival bands in Los Angeles.

Salt Petal has played high profile venues and festivals such as SXSW, Los Angeles Times’ Festival of Books, Echo Park Rising, Chinatown Summer Nights and Make Music Pasadena, performing alongside well-known artists including Lila Downs, Grimes, Robert DeLong, We Are Scientists, La Santa Cecilia, Chicano Batman, members of Blondie, Jane’s Addiction and more. Not only have their videos been featured on MTV Tr3s and the band written up in Billboard, but they recently won an international songwriting competition voted on by representatives of the BBC. The musical collective has also performed a special in-studio for Seattle’s acclaimed NPR station KEXP, broadcasted internationally.

Salt Petal’s latest release, Rare Hearts was recorded at the famed London Bridge Studios in Seattle with producer Eric Lilavois (Saint Motel, Atlas Genius) and mixed and mastered by Raymond Richards (Local Natives, Avid Dancer). The album aims to be a constant reminder for humanity to have faith and love in ourselves, in order to continue to get through difficult moments. The central theme is “exploring the fight everyday against yourself to be able to see what you have around you” reveals Harrison.

Their sound is heavily influenced by the adventuresome explorations of South America's music revolutions in the 60s and 70s, such as Tropicalia, Gonzalez confides,"Tropicalia had such a great philosophy of taking things on, consuming and devouring what was available and experimenting with it in a boundary-less way, in the search of a new identity." Salt Petal aspires to do the same, with their new release Rare Hearts. They write from loving a variety of sounds found in California, with rhythms and sounds from across the Americas considered on equal footing with rock, soul, and blues. The musical collective describes their sound as subconscious and a natural extension of who they are and hope that Rare Hearts will inspire people to be passionate, courageous and of course to dance!

Leading single ‘Telephone’ is a mixing pot of surf rock and 60’s psych, a dance anthem for the millennium. While the single ‘Disco Rats’, successfully showcases Salt Petal’s diverse musical sound. Rare Hearts features heavy trombone, funky bass lines and surfrock guitar riffs, paired with Harrison’s vocals creating a colorful and vibrant musical journey.

Rare Hearts is set for release April 28, 2017 worldwide.

The Black Angels share new track "Half Believing"



The Black Angels have shared new track Half Believing, the scorched-earth centerpiece off their upcoming LP Death Song, out April 21st on Partisan Records.


In addition, the Austin psych-rock godfathers have confirmed a run of West Coast tour dates, following an expensive tour this Spring that includes a stop at new NYC venue Brooklyn Steel on May 2. Full routing below.

For multi-instrumentalist, BRYCE AVARY of THE ROCKET SUMMER, his evolution into the powerpop/indie rock powerhouse that he is becoming has origins in his dynamic and explosive entrance into the mainstream ten years ago with his breakthrough album DO YOU FEEL. Celebrating the album which earned them the cover of Alternative Press who hailed him as “merging Cheap Trick’s hard pop hooks with Dashboard Confessional’s earnestness”, Avary will be playing Do You Feel along with an additional set of fan favorites from Hello, Good Friend, Of Men and Angels, Calendar Days, Life Will Write The Words, and Zoetic and spiking it with some brand new material that he's working on. In addition, the tour will launch the first ever double vinyl pressing of Do You Feel which will be sold on the road, as well as online and in stores. His first major label release via Island Def Jam, Do You Feel launched him out of the underground and into mainstream consciousness. Do You Feel balanced melody, meaning, and musicianship, embodying Avary’s forte of infusing passion into pop music with a variety of instruments and influences. From the cutting, rocking industry criticism of “A Song is Not a Business Plan”, to the bouncy calls to consciousness of “Break It Out” and “Do You Feel”, to the R&B-tinged, saxophone-backed “So Much Love” which featured the horn section that played on Stevie Wonder's Sir Duke album, to the epic, layered closing track “So, In This Hour”, Avary made it clear that he was uninhibited both from musical and lyrical standpoints. Furthermore, the recurring message and focus on re-sensitizing and retaining identity amidst a world of cruelty and conformity found throughout Do You Feel still rings true today as it did 10 years ago.

JUDAS PRIEST & Parliament Tattoo Present HELL BENT FOR LEATHER: AN ART EXHIBITION



PARLIAMENT TATTOO STUDIO have joined forces with the iconic metal band JUDAS PRIEST to bring you HELL BENT FOR LEATHER: An exhibition of hand painted leather biker jackets inspired by the band’s albums and song titles by some of the worlds greatest tattoo artists.

The first exhibition of its kind featuring tattooing nobility such as Grime, Jondix, Scott Move, Gregory Whitehead, Xam, and more, the landmark exhibition is set to make waves in both the music and tattoo art communities. Each artist taking part in the exhibition has selected their favourite JUDAS PRIEST song or album title from which to create their artwork - painting directly onto the back of biker jackets using specially designed acrylic leather paint - each piece represents hours of meticulous work resulting in some of the most exciting heavy metal artwork ever produced.

Kicking off with a bang the Metal God ROB HALFORD will take time out of the studio where he is working with JUDAS PRIEST on their new album, to open an exclusive showcase exhibiting the leather jackets to press, influencers and celebrities.

Hosted at Parliament Tattoo in London, guests of the private view will also have the opportunity to take home a piece of artwork of their own that will last a lifetime - a tattoo by one of Parliament’s resident artists. The studio will release JUDAS PRIEST themed tattoo flash, which guests can select from should they wish to make the ultimate homage to the legendary band.

Following the private view, the one off pieces will be displayed publicly in London this May, at a free exhibition in the heart of Camden. A drinks reception will launch the week long event on Friday 5th May at the Provender Building, right in the subculture epicenter that is the Stables Market.

Moving on from its stint in London, the jackets will head south to the prestigious Brighton Tattoo Convention on 13th & 14th May where they will exhibit alongside more than 300 world class tattooists, including several of the artists participating in the Hell Bent for Leather exhibition.

Following the events, the jackets will be auctioned off online to benefit both The Teenage Cancer Trust and the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund - both extremely worthy causes close to the hearts of JUDAS PRIEST - the exhibition hopes to raise as much money as possible for the two charities

IMELDA MAY RELEASES EMPOWERING NEW VIDEO FOR FEMALE ANTHEM ‘SHOULD’VE BEEN YOU’



Yesterday Irish superstar Imelda May has released a powerful music video for her new single, ‘Should've Been You’. Inspired by the recent Women’s March, Imelda herself created the concept for the video, which was filmed in Brixton, London, by director Laura Scrivano. Shot in one continuous take, the video sees Imelda and a group of everyday 'superwomen' – real Imelda May fans who responded to a Facebook post – march through Brixton Market holding placards with messages of solidarity and empowerment. It follows Imelda’s appearance at the Brit Awards wearing her #dresslikeawoman outfit.

Imelda reveals, “I wrote Should've Been You as a personal story of heartbreak, regret and eventual empowerment but when making this video I wanted it to reflect current feelings of solidarity amongst lots of women worldwide in response to events unfolding around us such as the Trump administration’s approach to affordable health and maternity issues. I wanted to ask the question 'who takes care of us? We are 50% of the world and it’s the people in power’s responsibility to take care of women as well. It still seems like it’s a man’s world and in 2017 that’s shocking. And I have a young daughter, which changes your perception of how you want things to be. You want to leave her a better world, you think ahead that way.”

Imelda continues, “The women in the video, who were predominately made up of my fans, represent a cross section of wonderful everyday women – superwomen from all walks of life. They are not victims or aggressive towards men but are powerful and positive representations of the female spirit and solidarity. I am very proud of it. We worked hard, had fun, had many laughs and all before most ran off to do the school run! They all made me feel proud to be a woman!”

The track is taken from her hotly anticipated forthcoming fifth studio record, ‘Life. Love. Flesh. Blood’ - produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett and featuring musical contributions from guitar hero Jeff Beck (on ‘Black Tears’) and piano legend Jools Holland – it is fast becoming one of the most anticipated albums of this year. Praised by publications including Mojo (“A powerful new direction”) Uncut, The Mirror (who described her new music as “Raw and real”) to the Mail On Sunday (who made it Album Of The Week, gave it four stars and stated: "Great albums tend to be growers, but this one grabs you at first acquaintance"), The Daily Telegraph (comparing it to Bob Dylan’s classic album ‘Blood On The Tracks’) alongside support from US industry publication Billboard Magazine as well as UK tastemaker music publications from Foxes Magazine to The Four Oh Five.

Psychedelic Norwegian alt-country troupe DIG DEEPER share new single "Stars Tonight" / New EP out May 19



“When we realised we were stuck in a northern outpost, where those elected to political power were working to close borders, refuse people in need basic rights and brag about having the strictest policies on immigration in Europe, we decided to make this record.”

These are the words of Norway’s Dig Deeper about their new “Stars tonight” EP, which they use as a way to highlight and criticise their government’s inhumane policies on immigration, and tell stories in the tradition of American alt-country from a European perspective – think Richmond Fontaine or Son Volt. This was somewhat of a turn for Dig Deeper; a band that originally set out to focus on having a good time playing trippy guitar music, described as “Norwegian mountain rock with a touch of War On Drugs and paisley underground.”

Dig Deeper seeks into the Norwegian mountains with their spacious, glacial sounds, long, layered grooves and singer Einar Kaupang´s heartfelt honesty. Their electric Norwegian road rock has a prominent psychedelic prefix and sets itself out with a clear storytelling approach. The songs here draw up the outlines of a man trying to “make it” in today´s Europe. These are songs of escape, distance, travel, identity, loss, and the search for freedom.

LEFTFIELD Ready to Release "Leftism 22", A Very Special Reissue of Their Seminal Debut "Leftism" on May 5th

LEFTFIELD - Neil Barnes and Paul Daley - one of electronic music's all time greatest acts - has announced the release of Leftism 22, a very special reissue of their seminal debut album Leftism, which will be available to May 5, 2017 via Sony CG.

Leftfield was formed in 1989, before emerging publicly in 1990 with "Not Forgotten," a song that established a template for a new strain of British house music, leaning away from American styles dominating UK clubs. Released in January 1995, their debut album Leftism remains one of the defining statements of dance music, a gloriously inter-woven bombardment of musical styles and immaculate grooves, nominated for a Mercury Prize and later voted in the top ten greatest albums of all time by readers of Q Magazine. The album spawned numerous hit singles in "Open Up" - their now legendary collaboration with John Lydon, "Original" featuring Curve’s Toni Halliday, "Release the Pressure" featuring Earl Sixteen, and "Afro-Left" with vocals by Neil Cole a.k.a. Djum Djum.

Leftism 22 arrives 22 years on from the release of the acclaimed original, in a remastered version overseen by Leftfield’s Neil Barnes (who now runs the band solo) and Paul Daley. It will be available in a limited edition 3xLP vinyl, mirroring the original release and will include download codes for the remastered album and new mixes will be included. Plus digital and 2xCD editions that will feature the original album remastered, as well as all 11 original tracks remixed by a host of artists, including Skream , Adrian Sherwood, BodyJack and Voiski, making 22 tracks in total.

“I suppose Leftism was completely different to anything else at the time,” says Paul Daley, looking back. “We tried to push sonic boundaries and used every inch of the speakers available, and then tried to push it a bit more. It was like pop music sticking two fingers up to pop music at the time and people seemed to take notice.”

“We came together in a quest to make the best record we could,” says Neil Barnes. “I remember all of the epic days in the studio, and I remember moments of satisfaction when we knew we'd nailed it. Tracks developed organically as we continually changed elements to make them work. It was an exhilarating experience, a special time.”

“There has been so much music and new genres since we made Leftfism,” continues Daley. “The baton has been passed on four or five generations but i like to think our record gave music and pop culture a little nudge at the time. It was part of a movement and musical revolution that came from a DIY mentality born from the technology available. The album is like part of me that represents my youth and energy of a more innocent and quite different time both socially and musically. When I listen to it now i think: yeah, nice one, that was definitely worth all the effort and late nights.”

“Paul and I really worked well together,” says Barnes. “We each respected the other’s opinion. It was all about the music. And now, I've come to enjoy it again. I appreciate that it means a lot to so many people. I'm really honored and often deeply moved by all the amazing things that people say about the record. Having Matt Colton re-master the album was a real pleasure, and I realized that Paul and I had created something really special.”

Throughout the 90s Leftfield were untouchable live and on record, starting a snowball rolling for British dance music alongside outfits like Orbital, Underworld and the Dust / Chemical Brothers in breaking electronic music from the underground, onto the stage and into the charts.

They have always been regarded as one of electronic music’s defining live acts. The now-infamous Liveism tour that followed Leftism’s release set a new precedent in sonic presentation as the behemoth sound system, which aimed to replicate the cataclysmic bass effect of reggae sound systems, incurred more complaints than Motörhead, and a ban from Brixton Academy when plaster started flaking from the ceiling. The tour elevated dance music from anonymous club PA to major event, with guest vocalists joining the party.

GOLDIE Releases 'PRISM’, The Latest Track From His Forthcoming Album



GOLDIE has released a brand new track, "Prism," taken from his forthcoming double LP THE JOURNEY MAN. The track showcases the darker and more underground sounds of Goldie’s repertoire, is available to stream and download now on all digital platforms upon purchase of the album.

Goldie says: “This is one of my favourite drum‘n’bass tracks on the album. I wanted to reach back into the 1980s…to capture that feeling when you melt gold in a crucible. When it’s at its hottest point, to create something precious from the raw materials – drum breaks, basslines. But the most important element for me is the melody”.

"Prism" follows Goldie’s previous single "I Adore You", the dramatic and cinematic video for which starred Stephen Graham. Goldie will release his brand new double album, The Journey Man, on June 16, 2017, via Cooking Vinyl and Goldie’s own record label, Metalheadz. The album comprises two parts, 16 brand new tracks in total, all written and produced by the MOBO Award-winning songwriter, DJ, producer, visual artist and actor Goldie (MBE). It also features a host of collaborators handpicked by Goldie to help realize his vision for the album.

From children’s homes in the West Midlands through stints in New York and Miami as one of the UK’s most celebrated exponents of graffiti art to rubbing shoulders with an exceptional list of musical collaborators including David Bowie, Noel Gallagher and KRS One, Goldie has always been one of a kind.

Collaborators on The Journey Man album include vocalist and songwriter Natalie Duncan, who was discovered when chosen in the three-part BBC series Goldie's Band By Royal Appointment and later provided the vocals for Goldie’s 2012 single "Freedom". Other featured vocalists on the album include Terri Walker, Tyler Lee Daly, Natalie Williams, José James, Naomi Pryor as well as Goldie’s wife, Mika Wassenaar Price.

Goldie recently played four triumphant sold out shows at iconic London jazz venue Ronnie Scott’s earlier this month. Performing tracks from The Journey Man as well as classics from his repertoire, he was joined on stage by the Heritage Ensemble as well as many of the collaborators on the forthcoming album and was met with a rapturous response from the audiences.

Night Drive premiere tripped out video for "Rise & Fall"+ announce debut record



Like a synesthesia-induced landscape found within the vivid worlds of films a la Tron or The Neon Demon, Austin + Houston duo Night Drive arrive today with the scattered and lo-fi visuals for their track "Rise and Fall" on Paper Mag. The group are also thrilled to announce their debut self-titled record, due June 16th via Roll Call Records.

Explaining the song on Paper Mag, the duo - comprised of Rodney Connell and Brandon Duhon noted,"Rise and Fall is about unexpected change as two people find themselves going in different directions. A sudden and untimely break up. We wanted the overall sound to be a bit dreamy and distant, which relates to that feeling of your life disintegrating and slipping through your hands like smoke, being unable to hold on to it. But we also wanted an energetic intensity to it, which relates more to the feeling of rushing headlong towards an inevitable tragedy and being unable to avert it, no matter what you do or where you turn."

Inspired by sci-fi cinematic landscapes, the duo's modern synth-pop seeks to explore the darker currents of abstract emotion. With infectious melodies wrapped in thoughtful lyrics, layered over pulsing dance beats, the group create an ethereal electronic world drenched in noir aesthetics. With the handful of tracks and remixes they've released, the duo's dreamy songs have already garnered attention from the likes of SPIN as well as causing a stir from tastemakers in the blogosphere.

Night Drive's self-titled debut album brings to mind the aesthetics of acts like Interpol or The Knife, and is an effort best consumed in it's entirety. From the John Carpenter-esque stylings of hazy album opener, "Hyperion" to the urgent synth of "Strange Telepathy" or the slow-burning and subtle "Ghost Craft," from start to finish, the LP is a textured soundscape and surreal journey through sound.

Lola Marsh to release debut album "Remember Roses"



Tel Aviv based indie duo Lola Marsh had great success with their 2016 EP “You’re Mine.” Both singles from the EP, “Sirens” and “You’re Mine" totaled 10 million streams on Spotify, principally in the US. Now, their eagerly anticipated debut album, Remember Roses is set for release on June 9, 2017. The album kicks off with a new single “Wishing Girl” – an unstoppable song carried by memorable whistling and an addictive melody, which premiered on PopMatters yesterday.

Written by vocalist Yael Shoshana Cohen and instrumentalist Gil Landau, the forthcoming album sees their sound inspired, matured and smooth. Yael and Gil have managed to free themselves from overwhelming influences – be it Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens, Edith Piaf – and compose a feel-good soundtrack for the summer season. The album shines with suave romanticism and sweet nostalgia. Friendship, love and fears from childhood are recurrent themes that flow throughout the eleven songs.

Rammstein release a concert film masterpiece on May 19 with "RAMMSTEIN: PARIS"



On Friday, March 24, official presale for the concert film "RAMMSTEIN: PARIS" began ahead of its worldwide release on May 19. The film, which will be released in many configurations, sets new standards. In March 2012, during the "Made in Germany" tour, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund shot two acclaimed Rammstein concerts at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris in front of 17,000 spectators. Featuring 22 songs from the band's entire repertoire, the resulting film is not only the most spectacular collection of imagery about the most successful German rock band of our time, but also a masterpiece of music cinema, capturing Rammstein's energy as a unique visual and sonic experience.

Åkerlund is notorious for his radical, pioneering video clips for bands such as The Prodigy, Metallica, the Rolling Stones and also Rammstein. Absurd details, upended perspectives, shocks of contrast and sensory confusion flicker through his music productions, and in "RAMMSTEIN: PARIS", he celebrates this from the very first minute. IMELDA MAY - "LIFE. LOVE. FLESH. BLOOD"

At last Imelda has become Madame May and I am not talking about her new hairdo, making her look like a young and sexy Chrissie Hynde. I am not speculating either about the mum of one reinventing her image after a heartfelt break up... And if that’s what you want to read about you can pass your way folks.

We are here to talk about 'Life. Love. Flesh. Blood', Imelda May’s new and latest album which will be released on Decca (!!!!). I will be honest with you, I have never been too much of a fan of her previous era (but I respect it) but it has changed now because... gosh, this album is ahead of anything produced recently in Ireland. The mix of jazz, blues, gospel, ballads is classic but so refreshingly crafted that I cannot fault any title. Well obviously, everybody will talk to you about Black Tears which is obviously good, but not only because Jeff Beck is on it. For me the opening title Call Me is one of the best, insofar as it is setting the tone of the album. It is clear: the punkie butterfly has clearly morphed into an accomplished artist with a capital A. The rockabilly tunes of the past look very pale when compared to Human or even the Calexico-ish Sixth Sense.

An average title though in my own opinion is Bad Habit, but we can settle our disagreement by agreeing this is maybe a good-bye song to her rockabilly past. The quality of the following tracks which are Levitate or the superb When It’s My Time may leave you breathless so much. There is such a soft intensity in those songs. I quite like Leave Me Lonely too. Not that the song is innovative in any shape or form, but it is catchy and insidiously infectious in its own way.

Despite being recorded in only seven days, the overall production is top notch. But should we be surprised when all the musicians on board have come with a huge studio experience, acquired with top artists such as Costello, Plant or even Elton John, so no wonder why all the tunes are so meticulously delivered. Now, and this maybe a paradox, but I am really smitten by the vocals. Imelda’s voice is in control at all time and is clearly relegating the other musical instruments to a figurative role.

Finally, I could not help smiling at the title closing the album: The Girl I Used to Be. So, paraphrasing Imelda’s lyrics I would say that once upon a time there was a Dublin girl whose hairdo and music was very popular and then one day it became stellar.

Overall: When a surprise is surprise.

After gaining a big following on the underground scene since forming in 2012, rising rock/grime collective Astroid Boys, who hail from Cardiff’s CF10 area code, have partnered with Music for Nations (Sony) as the label’s first signing since being recently re-launched.

Comprising Traxx (MC), Benji (MC), DJ Comfort (DJ), Dellux (producer) and Big H (drums), Astroid Boys have created something new and exciting, which was the intention when co-frontman Traxx started the band in 2012, wanting to merge his past as a punk kid with his transition into grime in his late teens.

With the band sitting comfortably between grime and punk/hardcore, their sound fuses together multiple sub-cultures and perspectives—a growth that defines them less as a band and more as a voice for the youth. Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics - DEBUT ALBUM "The Man With Stars On His Knees" out May 26th



On May 26th Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics release their swaggering debut album The Man With Stars On His Knees. full of wit and rage. The band will showcase the dynamic debut at festivals through out the UK this summer including: Download Festival, Camden Rocks, Wildfire Festival and Ramblin’ Man Fair.

The Man With Stars On His Knees is informed by the sharp musical intelligence of Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics. “A lot of thought went into making an album that made sense. For a few years, I was so confused, tense and lost that I had more ammunition than I had ever had before to write lyrics and melodies that took me through the realms of anger, upset, uprising and all manner of feelings that probably manifested under a blanket of pressure and time.”

After leaving Heaven’s Basement, Buchanan formed The Cult Classics with sibling Laurie Buchanan on guitar, Tom McCarthy (guitar), Chris Guyatt (bass), and Kev Hickman (drums), as he “wanted to be true to the art in [his] mind, and the sound”, “I'm proud to fly the flag for something a little different.”

Recorded at Plus11 Studio with long-term friend and producer James Curtis-Thomas, the resulting dynamic and fulfilling The Man With Stars On His Knees comes from “doing what musicians do best. Creating.“

The record kicks off with Show Me What You’re Made Of as thunderous as prime Soundgarden and as kooky as MUSE and sets the tone for the whole album. The singles follow; first the lyrically purposeful and autobiographical All The Things You've Said And Done is is an angry kick to the teeth and the first song Buchanan wrote for the album. It bristles with conviction, while the Iggy Pop inspired Dancin’ Down Below with its riotous hooks follows.

This album is about struggle “bought on by surrounding yourself with the wrong people at the wrong time. What comes of that is negative energy. It’s the reason the album has such unique titles on it.” The Devil That Needs You talks of un-helpable addiction, A God Is No Friend speaks of not knowing what to turn to next be it a higher force or your next hit on whatever next passes by in the shop window of life, Mind Of A Mute speaks of how judged I felt over the years, there’s so much meat to this record. I don’t believe I could have written something like this without having been beat to an absolute pulp.”

You never find yourself in the presence of music that sounds self-consciously clever, everything flows before the incredibly elegant Morals, a showpiece song, stacked harmonies closes the album in the best possible way. Every one of these 10 songs is a master class in how to write melodies that pull the heartstrings while refusing to rein in the balls-out instincts. Combined with the combination of fearsomely virtuosic metallic riffing, solid pile driving rhythm section and Aaron’s versatile and soulful voice ensures that The Man With Stars On His Knees is a colossal and essential debut.

It was important to the band to keep the album-circle tight. They didn’t want outsiders getting in on it and the album was like “a speakeasy, nobody knew anything about it unless they were on the inside and it stayed like that for months. Ryan Woods (bass/guitars on album) had a friend, Sam Mayle who had followed Buchanan from the previous band – it just so happened he was an insane artist. Ryan showed Aaron some of his work, amongst them a portrait of a singer from a great band of the mid-noughties and Aaron loved it so much because of the colour and detail that he asked him to do a version of it for the album in question, through this, the striking cover image was born.

Aaron Buchanan believes and understands rock music can be both an unalloyed pleasure and a conduit for ideas, a means of provoking thought, a world in which you can reinvent yourself at the same time. And this has been achieved with the astonishing The Man With Stars On His Knees. “It’s inspired by many records, writers and voices from Eddie Vedder and Scott Weiland through to Queen and Manson – but it stands alone in it’s own cabinet of approval. Blue Grass or mainstream country ain’t really a style I have bought in when it comes to music but when Dani K, our chief editor, mentioned to me it was an album of covers I almost choked. Now... never say never and rise to the challenge I told myself.

A few things were going to make this easy I told myself. Alison Krauss is well known vocalist and has a great voice check, musicians and production crew are always associated with high quality check, I can pass the more country sound like tunes check 😊.

Now surprise surprise! It turns out, thanks to Alison, that I now like Willie Nelson, who would have bet on that one!!! Beautiful piano intro, soft and aerial guitar and a bit of accordion... and I am now ready to wear cow boy boots when I listen to I Never cared For You.

River in the Rain from Roger Miller, which admittedly I never heard of (I know I know :-) ), is my second best preferred title on this record and I have found myself going back to this ballad on a regular basis. I seriously think I am going to buy a cow boy hat over the next few days.

Gentle on My Mind Pop intro originally sang by Glen Campbell, a retired country star, is the prelude to a soft and nice musical road trip to Arkansas and I am now contemplating purchasing a wild horse for the urban cowboy that I am slowly becoming.

I am told that Brenda Lee was the first artist singing All Alone Am I. I don’t know if it was one of her signature tunes, but it is a poignant song about loss that Alison has clearly made hers and this in the most superb fashion that an artist can do I must say.

You Don’t Know Me from Eddy Arnold concludes this 10-track cover album Called "Windy City", not an album that I thought I would end up appreciating but you know what, cowboys have a soft and tender heart too. 😊

Current NXT Champion Bobby Roode, who made headlines with his NXT debut at last year’s Download Festival said: “Download was my very first show in NXT. Download Festival is the home of rock music and takes place on the sacred grounds of Donington Park, which have been associated with rock since the eighties. The festival attracts icons of rock and metal to its main stage, plus some of the best and hottest new acts in the world.
