Dashboard Confessional & The All-American Rejects Cover Each Other to Commemorate Tour

Less than a week ago, DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL and THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS set out on a summer-long adventure. To commemorate the tour, both bands covered each other. Dashboard Confessional chose “Move Along” and The All-American Rejects settled on “Hands Down”. (Dates Below)

“When covering a song, we try to adhere as closely as we can to the most recognizable earmarks,” explains Chris Carrabba. “Most importantly the melody. The fun comes in the choices the band can make around those earmarks. We had a blast making ‘Move Along’ ours. The song has so much color and power it was easy to feel inspired by it.”

Tyson Ritter adds, “’Hands Down’ is an open-hearted story of young love. In the original recording, the vocal performance is something that carries you through that tale of pure discovery. Vocally, my immediate intention was to play the opposite. For the musical canvas, we wanted to take all the candy away from this song and feed it nothing but opiates, leaving you feeling as if the instrumentation itself was the nerves the lyrics were expressing.”

After the release of his debut album 2000’s Swiss Army Romance, Dashboard Confessional, the solo moniker for Chris Carrabba gained the loyalty of fans through his honest heartfelt lyrics. The following year, Carrabba entered the studio to record The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut. As a result of the sudden success of his second solo effort, Dashboard Confessional exploded and was everywhere from MTV to VH1 to MTV2 to magazine covers (Spin, Alternative Press, Guitar World Acoustic). Fans even copied Carrabba’s style down to his haircut.

By 2002 three other musicians had joined the band and Carrabba was asked to perform on MTV Unplugged and the subsequent live release marked the first time that many of the songs were recorded with a full band. Later that year, the band’s first breakout single “Screaming Infidelities” off of The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most won the MTV2 Award at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. Their third studio album A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart and was certified gold by RIAA. The band went on to release three more albums (Dusk and Summer, The Shade of Poison Trees, Alter the Ending) over the next six years. To date, Dashboard Confessional has three RIAA certified gold-selling albums (Swiss Army Romance, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar) and has had numerous songs featured on TV (Cougar Town, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, All My Children, Laguna Beach, NCIS, Cold Case, Clone High) and in movies (Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, Made of Honor, Sydney White).

Known for stadium-size sing-alongs steeped in pop panache and rock ‘n’ roll danger, cheeky wit, and raucous concerts that border on religious experiences, The All-American Rejects confidently waltz against the grain. Their 2017 EP and fifth full-length album continue a near two-decade tradition of ballsy, brash, and bold pop rock anthems. The band first shook up the scene with their 2003 platinum-selling self-titled debut. Its double-platinum 2005 follow-up Move Along spawned the platinum smash “Dirty Little Secret,” while 2008’s gold-certified When The World Comes Down yielded their biggest hit to date: the quadruple-platinum “Gives You Hell.” In total, sales have exceeded 10 million worldwide as Billboard ranked them on its Hot 100 Artists of the 2000s list and Billboard 200 Artists of the Decade list. Most recently, Kids In The Street notched acclaim from Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, and more. It’s only the beginning though…

Dashboard Confessional is Chris Carrabba (vocals, guitar), Scott Schoenbeck (bass), Armon Jay (guitar, keys), Ben Homola (drums).

The All-American Rejects is Tyson Ritter (lead vocalist, bassist), Nick Wheeler (lead guitarist, backing vocals), Mike Kennerty (rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist) and Chris Gaylor (drums).

Dayseeker Spinefarm debut "Dreaming Is Sinking | Waking Is Rising" released July 14th

Southern California's DAYSEEKER released their Spinefarm debut Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising on July 14.

It sounds like the premise of a dramatic thriller series on NETFLIX. A man avenges the unspeakable crimes committed against his wife only to be bludgeoned into a coma. Locked in a vegetative state, changes erupt throughout his world, spanning the dissolution of his marriage and the death of his estranged mother. While his hospital bed doubles as a front row seat to the chaos, questions arise… Is any of this happening? Is it real? What does it mean?

Some of the answers may or may not be encoded within the 12 tracks comprising Dayseeker’s 2017 conceptual third full-length album, Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising [Spinefarm]. Maintaining an inimitable and infectious intensity, the music represents a marked evolution for the Orange County group—Rory Rodriguez [vocals], Shawn Yates [guitar], Gino Sgambelluri [guitar], Ramone Valerio [bass], and Mike Karle [drums]. Since 2012, the group has quietly sent shockwaves throughout the scene. Their 2015 second full-length album, Origin, bowed in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart. Fan favorite “Hello” cracked 536K Spotify streams as “The Earth Will Turn” and “Jealous” each surpassed the 265K-mark. Simultaneously, they toured with the likes of Hawthorne Heights and Silent Planet in addition to receiving acclaim from New Noise Magazine, Ultimate Guitar, Sputnik Music, and more.

However, the boys wanted to collectively push the envelope for album number three. “I had always wanted to do a full concept album,” exclaims Rory. “In the past, our records were mainly based on personal experiences. I spoke on things I went through with my parents, breakups, and losing loves ones. This time, I wanted to stray from that path and write a semi-fictional story.”

The DNA of this story is an amalgam of the coma suffered by a friend of Rory’s ex-girlfriend, Alex Garland’s book The Coma, and Boys Night Out’s 2005 concept record Trainwreck—a personal favorite of the frontman. He carefully pieced together these inspirations into one bold body of work. Producer Josh Schroeder [King 810, The Plot In You, Battlecross] encouraged the narrative to unfold musically. “Josh really respected the concept,” Rory goes on. “He helped us add some flare and personality to round out the entire vision. Plus, he made it sound huge!”

The first single “Vultures” snaps from a breathy verse into an onslaught of guitars and drums. It hinges on a stop-and-start groove as Rory strangles a scream from raw emotion before slipping into a hypnotic croon, “Can you see yourself for who you really are?” “A girl I was very close with opened up to me about an experience where she got drunk and was taken advantage at a party,” he sighs. “I felt very protective over her. I had such deep-rooted negative feelings towards this guy. She never found out who it was either. It’s touchy, but it fits into the overall concept. I don’t think there are many musicians out there addressing this issue. Hopefully, the song can comfort anyone going through something that terrible.”

Elsewhere, “Sleep in the Sea pt. II” [feat. Garrett Russell of Silent Planet] swings like a wrecking ball from potent and powerful pummeling into a vicious vocal volley. “As far as the story goes, the guy wakes up and finds out his wife left him for another man,” the singer goes on. “At first he’s resentful, but he realizes she gave up because of his flaws. He’s the anchor metaphorically drowning her.”

The record ebbs and flows between moments of pensive pondering and sonic neck-snapping. “Six Feet Under” examines Rory’s strained relationship with his mother within the framework of the narrative, and the epic conclusion “Waking Is Rising” haunts and hypnotizes all at once. In the end, Dayseeker fortify their connection with listeners even further on Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising.

“When people hear this, I hope it inspires them,” Rory leaves off. “It would be amazing if they were encouraged to create something for themselves because of it.”

STARSAILOR Announce New Single ‘LISTEN TO YOUR HEART’ from the New Album "ALL THIS LIFE"

British quartet STARSAILOR have announced their brand new album All This Life, set for both physical and digital release on September 1, 2017 via Cooking Vinyl.

‘Listen To Your Heart’ is the opening track from the album. Lead singer & guitarist James Walsh describes it as, “an energetic, emotional song. I think in doing what we do, you have to be emotion and instinct lead. If every decision was sensible, practical and mulled over, we'd never have done anything or got anywhere. It’s not always easy, so you have to keep reminding yourself.”

Of the album and recording process, Walsh says; “Recording the album was an intense and rewarding experience and we're excited to get it out there. There's a good mix of the aspects of the band people know and love, and a few changes in direction.”

Their fifth studio album – and first since 2009 – All This Life finds Starsailor re-energized and in outstanding form. They played to an ecstatic crowd in a packed Big Top Stage at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival and debuted a new track from the forthcoming album.

‘ALL THIS LIFE’ TRACK LISTING: 1. Listen To Your Heart 2. All This Life 3. Take A Little Time 4. Caught In The Middle 5. Sunday Best 6. Blood 7. Best Of Me 8. Break The Cycle 9. Fallout 10. FIA (F**k It All) 11. No One Else

Renowned gypsy punk band GOGOL BORDELLO has released the new single "Walking On The Burning Coal" from their upcoming seventh album SEEKERS AND FINDERS which comes out August 25 , 2017 via Cooking Vinyl.

The band will embark on a North American tour in support of the album from September to November with a special NYC-area record release show on August 26th at Port Chester's Capitol Theatre (full tour dates below). NYC's brass/woodwind Lucky Chops will support.

Written over an extended time on three different continents, Seekers and Finders finds the nine-piece multi-cultural band in top form - an aural party of violins, accordions, trumpet, marimba amongst the standard rock basics of guitars, drum and bass. “I was still bouncing between Latin America and Eastern Europe when songs were emerging, but finally, as soon as I moved back to New York, it all came into focus… as it always did for me here,” he explains.

Formed in 1999, Gogol Bordello took their style of Eastern European-influenced gypsy punk and doused it deep into the underground rock of New York City. Having worked with numerous grandmasters of production including Rick Rubin, Steve Albini, Andrew Scheps, and Victor Van Vugt, Seekers and Finders brings the band full circle with Eugene taking over the producer’s chair.

Gogol Bordello is Eugene Hütz (vocals/guitar), Sergey Ryabtsev (violin), Thomas Gobena (bass), Pedro Erazo-Segovia (vocals/percussion), Pasha Newmerzhitsky (accordion), Boris Pelekh (guitar), Alfredo Ortiz (drums), Pamela Racine (vocals/percussion), and Vanessa Walters (vocals/percussion). 2017 Grammy Winner FANTASTIC NEGRITO Partners With Cooking Vinyl

Cooking Vinyl is proud to announce a new partnership with the 2017 Grammy-winning artist Fantastic Negrito and his imprint Blackball Universe. The label will re-release Fantastic Negrito’s album The Last Days of Oakland with two new additional tracks, just in time for his U.S. tour supporting Sturgill Simpson.

The new tracks -- “Push Back” and “The Shadows” -- are both produced by Xavier Dphrepaulezz (a.k.a. Fantastic Negrito). The extra tracks are now available for download and streaming, and will be released along with the rest of the album on CD and 180g vinyl in the U.S. on August 11, 2017.

Earlier this year, Fantastic Negrito's The Last Days of Oakland took home the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album Grammy Award. While blues is an integral part of Fantastic Negrito's overall foundation, his music defies genre, blending hip hop, rock, and other styles to create a sound that led Pitchfork's Greil Marcus to say "he could be inventing the blues for the first time."

Last Fall, Xavier made his national television debut as Fantastic Negrito on the season finale of Fox’s Empire, performing both his single “Lost in a Crowd”—the track that brought him to national attention, winning NPR’s inaugural Tiny Desk Concert Contest—and the hit song “Good Enough” alongside “Empire’s” Jamal Lyon.

MARIE MILLER Premieres Video for Glitter Gold

Folky, indie pop singer songwriter, MARIE MILLER has just premiered the music video for her track "Glitter Gold" on AXS. The video guides you through the songs wholehearted lyrics while coupling the tune with scenery and weather to set the mood.

"Glitter Gold" is the 5th track of Miller's most recent album, Letterbox, which Billboard joyfully likened to “a combination of Shania Twain and Sara Bareilles.” The album takes Miller’s dynamic voice and dives into narrative songwriting that speaks of the vulnerable and empowered sides of relationships and interactions. These passionate vocals and personal stories are delivered on the strength of fuller, larger musical arrangements with an increased emphasis on folky, indie-infused piano pop musicianship.

On Letterbox, Marie set out to make a deeply personal expression that extended out of her comfort zone. She told Blurred Culture: “It’s called Letterbox because the songs are basically letters to people... Basically, all of the songs are things that I’ve wanted to say to someone and I just couldn’t do it… So, I wrote a song about it. This album [is] my letterbox. My letters to people.”

From her upbringings with nine siblings on a vineyard in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Marie has achieved considerable accomplishments, including signing to Curb Records at the age of 16 and winning 2014 Macy’s iHeart Rising Star Competition. Marie’s music has reached countless people in recent years, having performed in front of Pope Francis and 750,000 people at 2015’s Festival of the Families in Philadelphia and having her song “6’2”” played on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Marie has released two EP’s, Marie Miller (2006), and You’re Not Alone (2013), toured the country, and risen significantly in radio charts. Marie’s 2013 single “You’re Not Alone” charted at #1 on Billboard Christian Hot AC/CHR Charts and reached 115,000 downloads on Amazon’s Rising Star Program.

Marie’s musical origins were the product of the writings of Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy and Homer, mixed with her quick learning of guitar and mandolin. Such influence of both artistic, literary, and instrumental considerations has translated to a well-crafted combination of wits, emotion, storytelling, and musicality that makes Letterbox a perfect reflection of the special kind of pop that Marie has passionately crafted.

In the late 90s, Interpol emerged as one of the American indie-rock scene's most exciting and inventive new bands. The New York outfit's artfully layered sound drew comparisons to a multitude of notable post-punk combos, but Interpol's cutting-edge sound was wholly its own. That's the case with 2007's Our Love to Admire, the band's third album as well as its first major-label release and one of the group’s biggest selling albums.

With the full participation of the band members, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Our Love to Admire, UMC will release three special expanded-edition reissues of this beloved classic: a two-LP vinyl set, a double LP with bonus DVD, and a CD/DVD set on August 18, 2017. The LP and CD will debut a sparkling new edition of the original album, remastered for this release by Gavin Lurssen with all of its original packaging intact. The bonus DVD captures the band's 12-song performance at the London Astoria on July 2, 2007 and includes live versions of several songs from Our Love to Admire, along with such earlier Interpol favorites as "Narc," "Obstacle 1," "Public Pervert," "Evil" and NYC."

Interpol formed in the late 1990s and quickly established a dense, intoxicating sound featuring layers of guitar, bass and synthesizers. The band came up through the vibrant New York scene, alongside such notable contemporaries as the Strokes and the National, but gained crucial early attention in Britain, where they recorded a prestigious live session for legendary BBC DJ John Peel.

Our Love to Admire marked a critical and commercial breakthrough for the band. Recorded at New York's Electric Lady and the Magic Shop studios with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Death Cab for Cutie), the album boasts an expansive, cinematic sound that drove home such notable songs as "The Heinrich Maneuver," "Pioneer to the Falls," "No I In Threesome," "Mammoth" and "Rest My Chemistry."

Upon its release, Our Love to Admire debuted in the Top Five in both the U.S. and the U.K. Uncut described the album as "a majestic, grandiose, machine-tooled album, subtly orchestrated with gothic pianos and doomy organs." Billboard noted that the band "retains its flair for dramatic images and ominous guitar lines...."

In the years since its original release, Our Love to Admire has remained a cornerstone of Interpol's body of work, and continues to stand as one of the key albums of the musical era in which it was created. Now, with these distinctive 10th anniversary editions, this modern classic shines more brightly than ever.

END OF THE WORLD Releases Brand New "One More Night" Remix with GREY

Indie-pop outfit END OF THE WORLD has premiered a brand new remix of their song “One More Night” with electronic group GREY on Dancing Astronaut. This is the latest in a series of remixes for the song, following their previous “One More Night” remix with DJ TEP NO.

The “One More Night” Grey Remix remix continues End of the World’s expansion into the U.S. music market, with the group now branching out into EDM/Dance music. The remix is both elegant and pulsating, boasting a memorable chorus that will be stuck in your head for days. It is a certified club banger and can easily fit in between acts such as Zedd and The Chainsmokers.

On the remix, Grey said that, "Both of us are really into Japanese culture, so when this remix opportunity came up we were on board immediately. We tried to make something that instantly put a smile on your face to try to match the vibe that the vocals gave us. We had a really fun time with this one!" End of the World, meanwhile, said of the remix, "We are big fans of Grey and have been looking forward to sharing this remix with everyone ever since we heard the news that they will be remixing our song! We really love the remix, it's super cool and makes you want to listen to it over and over again. It brought out a new face of 'One More Night'. Big thanks to Grey!"”

“One More Night” was originally the Tokyo-based group’s first step towards releasing music in the U.S. Fitting to the theme of the band’s name, the origin of End Of The World began at the lowest point of lead singer-songwriter Fukase’s life. Amidst his continuous battle with mental illness, Fukase checked himself into a mental hospital at 17 years old and spent a year of his life in psychiatric care. In order to regain what had been lost in his life, he began fully enveloping himself in his music and found renewed life through penning his honest feelings into song. Years later, Fukase reconnected with a few childhood friends and began writing and playing music as a group. The result of these writing sessions created a unique blend of Top 40 pop-hooks with lyrics themed to subjects like atheism and anarchy. As a nod to Fukase’s history in the inception of his music, the band collectively chose the name SEKAI NO OWARI, which translates to End of the World. Despite the ominous name, it was a new beginning for the band.

Both remixes of “One More Night” can be streamed now on Soundcloud. The official video for "One More Night" (featuring a cameo from pop-rock group DNCE) is now available to view on YouTube. Even more new music from End Of The World is on the horizon. The band is available for interviews. End of the World is Fukase, Nakajin, Saori, and DJ LOVE.

MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST Signs worldwide deal with NB; Announces new studio album

Michael Schenker is one of the most significant rock guitarists in the history of music. He has mesmerised the rock community since the 70's with his characteristic guitar play and contributed not only to Scorpions classics such as 'Lovedrive', 'Coast To Coast' and 'Holiday', but also constructed himself a monument during his time in UFO by writing hits like 'Doctor Doctor' and 'Rock Bottom' amongst others. His playing has had monumental influence on several generations of guitar players.

Back in 1979, the "German Wunderkind" decided to be his own boss. He founded the Michael Schenker Group aka M.S.G. and released the masterpieces ‘Assault Attack’ and ‘Built To Destroy’, the live legacy ‘One Night At Budokan’ as well as the McAuley Schenker Group pearls ‘Perfect Timing’ and ‘Save Yourself’. Around that time, outstanding musicians such as Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Don Airey (Deep Purple), Cozy Powell (ex-Jeff Beck), Chris Slade (AC/DC), Pete Way (UFO) and Neil Murray (ex-Whitesnake) were all invited by Schenker to play with him. M.S.G. also became the home of great vocalists, most notably Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow) and Robin McAuley. Those guys were also a part of the comprehensive Michael Schenker Fest, whose celebrated Tokyo show was released as live CD, DVD and Blu-ray this March recently passed.

Now the time has come for Michael Schenker to move another step forward: He fulfils the long-awaited dream of all hard rock fans by entering the studio as Michael Schenker Fest. The band have just started the recording process for a brand-new studio album with producer Michael Voss. Its release is set for spring 2018 through Nuclear Blast, the band's new record label.

Comments Schenker: "I am very happy to have signed with Nuclear Blast Records and I am looking forward to releasing a killer Michael Schenker Fest studio album in the spring of 2018. The album will bring together past and present in the form of 3 original M.S.G. singers - Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet & Robin McAuley - and the current Michael Schenker’s Temple Of Rock vocalist Doogie White (ex-Rainbow). Keep on rockin'!"

With this latest signing, a long-desired dream came true for the South Germany-based label. Owner Markus Staiger grew up with Michael Schenker's music and is also one of his greatest admirers: "I'm proud to be able to work with the ultimate guitar god, Michael Schenker. He has always been my idol and he's the reason why I started to play the guitar when I was 13 years old. But I was ungifted in that area, so I had to stop and decided to found a record label instead. It's a great day and I feel happy just like back in the day when I was listening to ‘Lovedrive’ and ‘Michael Schenker Group’ for the very first time, and went nuts! Thanks!"

Michael Schenker Fest will be playing several shows this year, including four UK show dates in London, Sheffield, Manchester and Hull.

Tash Sultana - Live in London This Week

Tash Sultana plays live in London for the first time this week. The 21 year-old Melbournian is quickly becoming an international sensation following the independent release of her debut EP ‘Notion’ last year.

Tash’s UK shows in June and September sold out without any promotion whatsoever. Her debut ‘Notion’ EP has amassed over 25 million streams, and Tash’s home-made video jam sessions have become a viral hit. Watch her live version of ‘Jungle’ here:

Tash first wrapped her hands wrapped around a guitar at the age of three, and the self taught artist quickly developed her own unique style that has people lining up to see her perform live. She will play sold out shows at London’s Scala on June 27 and 28, and London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on September 14. The selling out of these shows is testament to how this unique artist has captured the imagination of music lovers everywhere. Further UK shows are also on sale now.

Tash’s vocal shines with a magical quality, she has a natural gift for melody and her virtuosic guitar playing is from another planet. Her carefully crafted, edgy, multi-instrumental pieces featuring beat boxing, unique guitar work and percussion styled finger tapping, has left audiences in awe. DANZIG - "Black Laden Crown", Released May 26th, 2017 via AFM Records - ALBUM REVIEW

DANZIG - "Black Laden Crown"
Released May 26th, 2017 via AFM Records

Not every day that an album from a music icon lands on your desk. Danzig's Black Laden's Crown is one of those. The unique voice from Glen haunts the entire album and I cannot help taking a trip thru memory lane including his early work with Misfits. What an artist!!! He has influenced not only musicians and many generations of music lovers but has also laid the foundations of what the music was to become for so many bands in the 80/90s.

Black Laden Crown the first track is the perfect stage for Danzig's voice. The music is stylishly and subtly influenced by stoner touches and together with the voice form the perfect story telling vehicle that Glen's is renowned for.

The production is clean and efficient while not showing off needlessly. The start of Eyes Ripping Fire is not without reminding me of some of the best Corrosion Of Conformity intros, same for Devil On Hwy 9. I swear I thought I heard Woody and Pepper (from C.O.C) the first time I played the track.

No instant hits stands out in the 9 tracks proposed and the first thing that may spring to mind is that there is no song as distinctive as Mother on Black Laden Crown. Having said that all the titles are very solid and cohesive if you consider But A Nightmare, The Witching Hour Or Skulls & Daisies.

I like Pull The Sun, the concluding track where Glen's soft singing style is taking all its dimension which for me is not so distant in terms of intonations from the great work of the late Chris Cornell.

Maybe not one of Danzig’s most catchy work but definitely up there in the strong and solid album category.
Overall: A super solid album.
If I was to pick 3 Only: Eyes Ripping Fire, Devil On Hwy 9, Pull The Sun
Live Test: Never seen him play but would surely if he comes to Ireland :-)

ARCH ENEMY reveal cover art and further details for 'Will To Power'

Metal powerhouse ARCH ENEMY are ready to bring their fierce brand of metal to audiences worldwide as they announce details on their upcoming album, "Will To Power", out September 8, 2017 via Century Media Records. The band are excited to reveal the album's captivating cover artwork, as shown above, designed by Alex Reisfar.

Guitarist Michael Amott commented on the artwork: "It was a pleasure working with Alex Reisfar on the 'Will to Power' cover artwork, he immediately grasped the concept and atmosphere we were looking for with this album. We talked about the double edged sword that is human ambition, how it can be outstandingly creative and beautiful but can also be turned into something dark and powerful. Alex proceeded to masterfully paint a strong image that evokes a lot of feelings. The human skull as a central focal point, the flesh sort of falling off into the circular pattern. The snake ouroboros weaving in and out of the mouths and throats of the severed heads of a wolf, a goat and a vampire bat... All representing self determination and a predatory, almost parasitic will to power"

Co-produced by Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson, the album was sent to long time collaborator and friend Jens Bogren (Opeth, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir) for mixing and mastering and marks legendary guitarist Jeff Loomis' (Nevermore) first recording with the band.

Following in the steps of their most acclaimed album to date, "War Eternal", which saw the band reach their highest charts in the US and Germany to date, "Will To Power" will continue to smash records worldwide. While full details and pre-order information on "Will To Power" will be made available in the coming weeks, fans can currently take part in a special campaign which will allow them to sign up and have their name featured in the "Will To Power" Deluxe Box Set Edition. UNKLE Announces New Album THE ROAD PART 1 Out August 18, 2017

After a rollercoaster twenty-five year career as an artist, curator and tastemaker, James Lavelle returns with UNKLE’s fifth studio album, The Road: Part 1 - a collection of fifteen new UNKLE tracks inspired by his curation of 2014’s Meltdown Festival at Southbank, their most successful to date. Following a technical error at the manufacturing plant, The Road: Part 1 will now be released on August 18th.

The Road: Part 1 is a collective creative venture with musicians including London folk-rock artist and poet Keaton Henson, Primal Scream’s Andrew Innes, The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss, long-time UNKLE collaborator Mark Lanegan and Mercury prize nominee ESKA. Lavelle also found new friends and collaborators in Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore and Beck drummer Justin Stanley, who make definitive contributions throughout the record.

Recorded in UK, Europe and Los Angeles’ Pink Duck Studios, The Road: Part 1 is the product of a desire to create something fresh and innovative, that also celebrates the rich history of UNKLE, and showcases a new wave of talent such as Elliott Power, Mïnk and YSEÉ. The album also features long-term collaborators Philip Sheppard, Chris Goss, Twiggy and Troy Van Leeuwen. Lavelle set out to make a record that tapped into the multicultural landscape of modern London. His mission was to unite the eclectic mix of ideas, cultures and genres under the UNKLE umbrella and create something unique.

James Lavelle praises the role of collaboration, and its importance at the core of the project: “I hadn’t made a record in a long time, and the incarnation of UNKLE had changed in that now, it was me on my own. For that reason, I wanted to make a record that I hadn’t been able to before, going back to the roots of where I came from, with a foot in modern London.” In July 2016, UNKLE released their first single in seven years. Lavelle teamed up with Elliott Power, Mïnk and YSEÉ for the gospel infused "Cowboys or Indians". Followed by "Sick Lullaby" in February 2017, his second collaboration with Keaton Henson. "Sick Lullaby" is tender and cinematic, a beautiful lullaby that empowers Henson’s delicate vocals.

The latest track from The Road: Part 1 , "Looking For The Rain", - currently riding high on the BBC 6 Music Playlist - is a call to arms in our turbulent modern world written by Mark Lanegan with string arrangements by Will Malone (Massive Attack, Unfinished Symphony and UNKLE's Lonely Soul amongst others). The video, by visual artist Doug Foster, was created by “filming a variety of subjects from nature, such as water, crystals and plants. The footage was composited in several stages to eventually form a moving tunnel of light that features synchronized repetition and bilateral symmetry.”

Creative visual collaborations are a core part of the immersive experience of UNKLE. The importance of the visual experience is an integral part of ‘The Road: Part 1’ and its story. Following the immense success of his critically acclaimed exhibition Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick last summer at Somerset House, Lavelle continued his collaborative relationship with esteemed artists throughout the creation of The Road: Part 1. This includes cinematic and thought-provoking official videos from artists and visionaries including Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones (Cowboys or Indians, Sick Lullaby); Norbert Schroener (The Road), and many more to be revealed.

Watch the official video for the album’s title track "The Road", directed by German filmmaker Norbert Schoerner, The collaboration follows from Schoerner’s involvement with James Lavelle's Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick exhibition. The footage was filmed by using a drone to explore the stark American wilderness. Norbert Schoerner and James Lavelle have created a film that in Schoerner’s own words “describes the ever present conflict between natural landscape and human progress”. The masterfully curated list of visual collaborators extends to the physical release of The Road: Part 1. The cover art is from a painting by German contemporary artist Jonas Burgert. The 36-page booklet features artwork by contemporary luminaries including Turner Prize nominee Nathan Coley, John Isaacs, David Nicholson, Norbert Schoerner, Doug Foster, Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones. It was designed by James Lavelle and up-and-coming designer George Stewart-Lockhart.

In the twenty years since UNKLE’s debut album Psyence Fiction, Lavelle has been prolific. He created four studio albums with UNKLE (Psyence Fiction, Never Never Land, War Stories and Where Did The Night Fall), a host of critically-acclaimed film scores, and curated a series of art exhibitions through Daydreaming With... most notably, the hugely successful Daydreaming With Stanley Kubrick exhibition at Somerset House, and his latest exhibition Daydreaming with UNKLE Presents THE ROAD: SOHO. The Daydreaming with... exhibitions are inspired by the desire to marry music and the visual arts and aim to create a unique and multi-sensory experience, unprecedented by museum exhibitions or music festivals.

Whilst The Road: Part 1 may be their fifth studio album, it is in many ways a new beginning. With shows booked throughout the year in the UK (and hopefully some U.S. dates to be announced) and The Road: Part 2 already in the making, it feels that even after 25 years, the road for UNKLE has only just begun.

Buckcherry's Josh Todd and Stevie D. have launched a new band - JOSH TODD & THE CONFLICT and revealed a powerful new music video for the title track off their debut album, “Year of the Tiger”, out September 15th on Century Media Records. The clip, directed by the renowned Chris Cuffaro (Pearl Jam, George Michael), is the first of three videos shot as a mini-concert this past May in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles. The other two videos will be released over the next few months.

Josh Todd (lead vocals) states: “The album’s title track, 'Year of the Tiger,' was one of the first songs we wrote for the record and also became one of my favorite songs I have ever written. Like most good songs, it came together very quickly. As soon as Stevie sent me the music, the lyrics and melodies poured out of me. I'm a huge fan of Hannibal and the show Narcos, while also being into the big cats. In Hannibal, they had a character that would feed despicable people to his pigs and I thought that was pretty demented and interesting. Also, I am always fascinated with people that have the balls to choose a life or crime, so this track is about a guy living on the edge with a manhunt going on for his life ending in death by tigers." Watch the video here:

“Year of the Tiger” was co-produced by guitarist Stevie Dacanay (Buckcherry) and Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz. Speaking about the motivation that led to starting this new project, Josh adds, “I have a lot of storytelling in me and I always wanted to start another band. Something more reckless and off the beaten rock path. A lot of changes had taken place in Buckcherry and I didn't want to go another year without making new music. BC is in a great place; we have a great new line-up and we have a handful of dates to complete this year. However, my full attention is on JOSH TODD & THE CONFLICT and the record dropping on September 15th. We're gonna do a worldwide tour behind this. My goal is to give each band a break, so I can stay consistently making music without over touring and build both situations into something really cool."

Flanked by fellow guests Mark Wahlberg, Sienna Miller, Tom Holland, Andy Serkis and Woody Harrelson, Cooking Vinyl recording artist and pop legend ALISON MOYET performed the song "The Rarest Birds" on BBC One's THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW. The song is taken from her critically-acclaimed new album OTHER.

Bursting with clarity, vitality and freshness, OTHER finds Moyet at the top of her game - making exactly the adventurous music she wants to at this moment in time, with her voice and songwriting both intense, poetic and thought provoking. Other was again catalyzed by Alison’s fruitful partnership with producer and song writing collaborator Guy Sigsworth, who (as well as having worked with Björk, Goldie and Madonna) also co-created her last album the minutes, which debuted at # 5 in the national UK charts and won international critical acclaim. TOUR DATES

US/Canada: 11 Sept – Sixth and I: Washington DC 12 Sept – The Trocadero Theatre: Philadelphia, PA 13 Sept – Royale, Boston, MA 15 Sept – Irving Plaza; New York, NY 17 Sept – The Danforth Music Hall: Toronto, ONT 19 Sept – Park West: Chicago, IL 20 Sept – Fine Line Music Café: Minneapolis, MN 22 Sept – Star Theater: Portland, OR 23 Sept – The Showbox: Seattle, WA 25 Sept – The Fillmore: San Francisco, CA 26 Sept – Music Box: San Diego, CA 27 Sept – The Fonda Theater: Los Angeles, CA

Poignant, dreamlike, beautiful: The Last Dinosaur’s The Nothing is a record to swim in. The brainchild of Londoner Jamie Cameron, it’s an album that addresses a tragic event from his teenage years, and transmutes that experience into a cathartic work of art.

At 16, Jamie had met kindred spirit James Macdonald at music college and recorded the 2004 album Good Morning Sunshine… and Goodnight with him under the name When I Was a Little Girl, a well-received debut through the independent label Where It’s At Is Where You Are. But a year later, Jamie was in a car crash that tragically claimed the life of his best friend. Out for the day with one of Jamie’s sisters and another friend, the car aquaplaned and hit another car at a junction. James’ injuries were the worst among the passengers, and when he passed away, Jamie was in a state of shock.

“I’d had a pretty idyllic life until then, nothing particularly bad had happened,” Jamie says. “That was a difficult experience to comprehend. Despite how harrowing it was, I thought came out of it relatively mentally unscathed, although in hindsight that’s a trick you tell yourself.” Instead, he began recording with another music college friend, Luke Hayden, as The Last Dinosaur. Jamie’s parents split up, he broke up with his girlfriend, and The Last Dinosaur’s debut album Hooray! For Happiness, covered glowingly by the likes of Uncut, The Line Of Best Fit and more, attempted to come to terms with these experiences, while avoiding the real elephant in the room. “I was doing everything to avoid confronting this really big thing that happened at an age when you don’t generally experience death and loss,” Jamie says.

Afterwards, depression took hold of him, but over the course of years, he began writing, recording and amassing songs that addressed his grief and own fear of dying. The powerful The Nothing began to take shape. “It wasn’t an intention of mine to write an album about dying or anything like that, but I realised after I’d written a few songs that they all were about it in some way. It got to a point where I couldn’t really avoid it. I’d done the divorce album and it was all I was left with, trying to make sense of this thing that happened. Halfway through I realised it was profoundly cathartic, it made me felt less scared of dying.”

The Nothing is uplifting, life-affirming. Its lyrics may tackle the subject of mortality, but the gorgeous, overlapping, interlacing melodies are like drifting in a blissful reverie. ‘We’ll Greet Death’, with its strings, piano, saxophone and acoustic guitar is defiant, possessed of an emotional complexity. On ‘Grow’, Jamie’s lovely acoustic plucking forms the basis for a song about the fragility of life, while ‘The Sea’ is a meditative post-rock movement that begins in a hushed place and concludes over five minutes later in a gorgeous string-laden denouement. Although Jamie professes to a childhood love for R.E.M, Tortoise and most of all, Talk Talk, the music here is very much his own, self-penned and performed with close friend Rachel Lanskey providing viola on most of the songs. “I’ve had a very strong sense of never wanting to copy anyone else’s music, I just want to sound like me,” Jamie says.

Created between 2009 and 2016, The Nothing is a stunning, affecting album that is also a touching tribute to Jamie’s late friend. “Someone called it elegiac,” Jamie says. “I quite liked that notion.”

Clutch at The Academy Dublin - Gig Review

Clutch in Dublin at the Academy. Not that this has not happened before but I did not think it would happen again this time around if I judge by the number of class acts bypassing Ireland the last few months. But Thursday 15th of June 2017 was not one of those days and Neil Fallon the emblematic leader of Clutch stormed on stage just before 9.00ish.

Clear sound, great voice and very efficient musicians set the place on fire within the first few notes. It was meant to be a great gig where people would have a great time and so it was.

Neil owns the stage and his charisma overtook the entire venue in a matter of seconds. Self effacing musicians focused on delivering a solid set giving Fallon all the latitude to play with an audience which was smitten from the get go. Neil mentioned it had been too long since the last time he and the crew had been in Dublin and I agree. Not many bands are as unique as Clutch. Is it power blues, hard core country, stoner soul punk or plain rock'n'roll? It does not matter in the end and I think this is the secret of Clutch. Listen, if you cast an eye on the diversity of the audience one wearing a Danzig Tee, one Depeche Mode or the other Metallica or Sick Of It All it is a sure sign that it’s all about good music and catchy tunes.

I am not going to make an inventory or detailed the track list one by one but we had a lot of old titles, some from the last album and some titles they are currently testing on stage with a view to record them pretty soon. Drinking water (and eating peanuts?) the bond between an entertaining Fallon and the audience was obvious. He is enjoying his time on stage alternating story telling, powerful singing or possessed moves. Whatever he did, the public responded accordingly.

Songs were introduced, following one another they were refreshingly played without the mandatory guitar solo moment or drums skills show off leading us nicely but surely to the encore. At that point the "mob went wild" on the first notes of Psychic Warfare which turned out to be the last track to be played.

Lights on, Neil made sure to hand back the mobile phone of a fan who had mysteriously landed on stage earlier. He also spent a few minutes behind thanking and high fiving many and made sure some hard core fans from the first row were awarded a copy of the track list.

A super night from a super band with a super audience in a great venue. A band confident in his ability and a singer (almost a preacher) unapologetic to rock and roll 😊.

MODERN CHEMISTRY Announces Everything In Gold

New Jersey rockers MODERN CHEMISTRY have re-emerged in a big way with the announcement of their debut LP Everything In Gold. Everything In Gold was produced by Paul Levitt (Have Mercy, The Dangerous Summer) and will be self-released on July 7, 2017.

The band will be having a record release show for Everything In Gold on July 8 at House of Independents, then touring with Taking Back Sunday and Every Time I Die from July 14-August 1. Everything In Gold is a record that takes the emotionally-infused rock that the band has been known for and brings it to a more dynamic, expansive place reminiscent of Manchester Orchestra or Kings of Leon. From the desperation of “Pretty Death” to the delicate vulnerability of the twinkling “Tripping Over You” to the smooth, swaying “St. Rain,” there is a vast array of moods, melodies, and textures applied throughout the album. From the opening title track's tranquil chords to the throaty rage that fades to a calm of closing track "Tradewinds," there is a sense of controlled chaos that makes this record a layered experience.

TRACK LISTING: 1. Everything In Gold 2. The Moment 3. Pretty Death 4. Tripping Over You 5. I Can't Take Myself Anywhere 6. Wallpaper 7. St. Rain 8. Fever Dream 9. Sleep Talk 10. It's Been A While (Demons) 11. Tradewinds

The amount of hard work and heartfelt artistry that Modern Chemistry put into their debut album has been a defining character trait for the band throughout their career. Since forming in 2012, they’ve independently released three EPs, including 2016’s Dreaming Adjacent, produced by Adam Lazarra of Taking Back Sunday. Lazarra praised the band’s passion, saying “they work so hard and treated every decision, no matter how small, with a lot of thought and great care. I'm very proud that they were gracious enough to let me into the process.” Their releases have earned them rave reviews, two cover features in their local weekly The Aquarian, and built them a budding audience.

They also have earned their stripes on the road, touring with Frank Iero And The Patience in 2015 and playing major festivals like SXSW, South By So What, Gentlemen of the Road, and Chicago's Riot Fest. This past fall amidst mixing Everything In Gold, they played a sold out club tour with Mayday Parade and just last month they played Ohio's Spring Fling festival. Modern Chemistry will be supporting Everything In Gold on tour this summer with Taking Back Sunday and Every Time I Die.

Modern Chemistry is Joe Zorzi (lead vocals/guitar), Brendan Hourican (guitar/backing vocals), Jesse Slachman (drums/backing vocals).

Indie rock four-piece Beachwood Coyotes release new single

Jason is tripping in Hollywood at 2AM. Having just taken acid for the first time, he navigates through a vortex of geometric displays comprising the essence of life before deciding he simply must go on a night hike up the Beachwood Canyon trail to the iconic Hollywood sign. The band Jason has played guitar in since age 16 has just broken up after years of cross-country tours, and he suddenly faces an uncertain future. Unfortunately for Jason, as he approaches the trailhead he spots a group of coyotes heading down towards him. Have you ever seen coyotes on acid? They’re scary as hell. Jason retreats back to his apartment, wallowing in disappointment at another lost opportunity.

He discovers the next morning that three decapitated bodies were discovered on that very same trail, victims of an apparent gang hit. Time of death? The exact same time he was scared away. Did those beachwood coyotes save his life? You bet they did. Suddenly songs start pouring out of Jason, years and years of relentless touring providing fertile subject matter for songs about the loneliness of life on the road and the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles. After bringing the hard-hitting rhythm section of bassist Drew Smith and drummer Bryan King on board along with Canadian guitar phenom Yan Clermont, Beachwood Coyotes is born.

The band retreats to a dark practice space and writes loud powerful songs with catchy beats and reckless melodic pop abandon. They design a DIY light show and pour every ounce of their energy into their live shows. The packed gigs feature frequent stage diving and impromptu in-crowd performances, that quickly gain the attention of Los Angeles tastemaker station KROQ.

Their upcoming EP, entitled ‘Scrubby' is produced by Austen Moret. Moret's influences showed the band a world of endless sonic possibilities. He seamlessly blended samples and electronic elements into the arrangements and incorporated a variety of different influences including hip-hop, hard rock, jazz/funk and even some barbershop quartet, pushing the band's music into a whole new territory.

‘Scrubby’ has been deemed a metaphor of the bands journey so far. “Thematically, the EP deals with growth and overcoming obstacles that have been placed in your way, as well as questioning and rejecting things that you may have taken for granted in the past”, reveals drummer King. “A band coming of age record, if you will”.

Leading single Face to Face highlights the band’s use of infectious melodies, driving rhythm section and strong harmonic vocals, creating the ultimate indie rock anthem. Rolling My Eyes showcases the versatility of the band, with a more funky electronic/hip-hop sound and socially conscious lyrics critiquing race relations in America. "We believe the best bands are like a melting pot of each person's styles, which together achieves something unique that you'd never be able to sit down and describe in advance”, confides King.

Buoyed by a growing local fanbase and multiple successful tours throughout the western US, Beachwood Coyotes are ready for their next step in their musical endeavor. Their latest EP ’Scrubby’ is set be released in summer of 2017. God bless those damn coyotes.
