UK Country superstars The Shires premiere new single Daddy’s Little Girl

UK Country superstar duo, The Shires, today release their heartfelt new single, ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’. The track’s lyrics, written by Shires vocalist Crissie Rhodes, celebrate cherished memories of her late father. From the “smell of Old Spice” or his “flat cap on the dash” the song’s lyrics share Crissie’s fondest memories of her father, who for her, was the “man who hung the moon.”

“This is a very personal song. My dad passed away from Cancer when I was 8 years old, but I still think of myself as Daddy’s Little Girl. The music video features real footage and photos of us together, and also the glasses and flat cap he wore every day. It was wonderful to go through all this in the process, as it brought back so many great memories. I have also received many messages from fathers, saying how much this song means to them, as it reminds them of their daughters.” – Crissie

The track, written in Nashville, is one of the most popular songs on The Shires’ hit album ‘My Universe’ - landing over 290k streams on Spotify to date. The song also proved to be a live favourite on their UK Headline Tour last year – performed acoustically with just Ben and Crissie on stage, the crowds always fell completely silent, often with tears in their eyes.

The Shires celebrated a landmark year in 2016 with the release of their new album 'My Universe' which stormed the UK Album Chart, landing at No.3 and becoming the fastest-selling UK Country album of all time. The duo received endorsements from celebrity fans including Robbie Williams, as well as resounding support from the media, including BBC Radio 2, being made Album of the Week at the station and landing three consecutive A-list singles; ‘Beats To Your Rhythm‘, ‘My Universe‘ and 'A Thousand Hallelujahs’. A packed summer festival schedule also included their first Headline performance at Glastonbury, on the Acoustic Stage.

Last year The Shires also joined the ranks of prominent US Big Machine Label Group Country artists Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett by signing an exclusive recording deal with the leading US Country music record label. The Shires are undoubtedly seen as the trailblazers of the UK Country music movement in the USA as well as the UK, which saw a sea change in recent years, with the British public fully embracing the genre.

This month has already seen the band appear on BBC One’s ‘One Show’ and with imminent plans to focus on expanding their presence in the USA, as well as another big UK Headline Tour, 2017 is already shaping up to be another landmark year for UK Country and The Shires.
