Phoenix Rockers Ded release apocalyptic vision of the world with new “FMFY” video

Phoenix Rockers Ded have released an apocalyptic vision of the world with the new video for “FMFY”. The band will be kicking off their 2017 touring schedule with a KUPD sponsored show on February 9th @ Pub Rock in Scottsdale, AZ. The driving rocker is visually intense, with scenes of riots, violence and war interspersed with a powerful live performance against a stark backdrop of a run-down house.

Vocalist Joe Cotela says,” “FMFY” is a song that’s loosely inspired by Matthew McConaughey's character Rust from the show True Detective. Although pretty extreme at times, a lot of his thoughts and ethos resonated with me and made me think about the human race and our programming. We’re programmed to be selfish and hopeful; and yet how hypocritical we are in the process of judging others and standing on our soapbox's screaming our 'important' point of view."

Cotela goes on to say "I wanted to include myself in this by saying 'Fuck me' as well because I wanted to take a stance of true honesty without the self-righteousness of separating myself from whom I'm condemning. I am a part of all of these flaws and I contribute to the problem in my way. The important thing here is that I am attempting to be conscious of who and what I am while a lot of other people have no problem being complacent… They are on auto-pilot inside their little self-made narratives of 'Who I am.' We want to wake people up a bit with 'FMFY. We hope these intense images in the video get that point across and make people think”.

DED was born in the music scene of Phoenix, Arizona and has been together for 2 years. Band members Joe Cotela (Vocals), David Ludlow (Guitar), Kyle Koelsch (Bass), and Matt Reinhard (Drums) developed a friendship and ultimately a musical partnership that mixes horror and dark imagery to develop a familiar, yet unique sound that sets them apart from other bands.

The band’s work ethic, drive, and dedication led them to record an EP that quickly made the rounds of the music industry, and started a buzz that opened doors. Using that as a springboard, the band hit the road and toured with Beartooth, Asking Alexandria, Atreyu, Every Time I Die, Upon a Burning Body, The Acacia Strain, John 5, Powerman 5000, and Insane Clown Posse among others.

Their touring helped grow awareness in the business and brought them to the attention of producer John Feldmann (Disturbed, Blink-182, Beartooth). Their collaboration with Feldmann culminated in the band signing with Jordan Schur @ Suretone Records – who discovered and grew the careers of platinum rock acts Staind and Limp Bizkit, among others. Suretone will be releasing their debut album in May of 2017.

Upcoming Tour Dates (more to be announced in March): Feb. 9th – Pub Rock – Scottsdale, AZ (KUPD Presents) Feb. 16th – Hard Rock Live – Las Begas, NV (Radio Contraband Convention) May 6th – Carolina Rebellion – Charlotte, NC May 19th – 21st – Rock On The Range – Columbus, Ohio May 26th – 28th – Rocklahoma – Pryor, OK July 16th – Chicago Open Air Festival – Bridgeview, IL

Peter Hook & The Light: live albums & UK dates announced

May 5th sees the worldwide CD and digital release via Westworld Recordings of four stunning live albums from legendary Joy Division and New Order bass player’s band Peter Hook and The Light. These recordings comprise Peter Hook and The Light performing these Joy Division and New Order classic albums in their entirety plus selected fan favourites. The audio quality is excellent and this coupled with excellent performances from Peter and the band will make these a must have for any fan of these two iconic outfits.

Released in August 1987, New Order’s Substance was originally conceived as a way for Factory Records boss, TonyWilson, to play the New Order singles on the CD player of his new Jaguar car. Substance became the best selling New Order album ever upon its release, the double LP going on to sell 2 million copies in America alone. Widely considered New Order’s strongest album, “their most popular, well known, highly rated and arguably the most influential” (Sputnik Music), Factory Records’ 200th release featured the bands seminal 12” mixes of their singles as well as versions of ‘Confusion’ and Temptation re-recorded for the LP.

Running from “Ceremony” in 1981 up to “True Faith” in 1987 (again recorded especially for the album), the set takes in the high points of New Order’s catalogue, including “Temptation”, “Thieves Like Us”, “The Perfect Kiss” and “Bizarre Love Triangle”. Released the following year in July 1988, Joy Division’s Substance features all the singles which did not appear on the albums such as “Transmission”, “Komakino”, “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “Atmosphere”, as well as their b-sides, tracks from their EP “An Ideal For Living” and the Factory Records sampler.

Factory Records’ 250th release, it begins with “Warsaw” and takes in the development of the band through “Digital” and “Dead Souls” to the band’s final tracks. The collection demonstrates the same energy as a full length LP with several key B-sides added. Allmusic called it “the best adjunct to the two albums anyone could want.” Peter Hook & The Light have toured Joy Division and New Order’s albums extensively since debuting “Unknown Pleasures” back in 2010 with dates all across the world which have been very well received by critics and fans alike.

Following the debut Glasgow, Manchester and London dates in September 2016, Peter Hook & The Light are to perform Joy Division and New Order’s legendary Factory Records compilation albums “Substance” live with dates across England and Wales in early to mid March 2017. Spread across three weeks, the dates see The Light return to a number of venues they have played acclaimed and well attended concerts previously as well some new arenas for the band. Beginning Thurs 2nd March in Newcastle, that week’s run of gigs see Hooky and The Light back in Liverpool & Holmfirth.

The tour's second week begins on the South Coast, Tues 7th March in Brighton with dates at the end of the week in Gloucester, Leamington Spa and a first gig for the band at the legendary Rock City in Nottingham. The final leg of the tour, across Thurs 16th Mar to Sat 18th Mar sees the band finish up the run in Colchester & Cardiff with the final night at Leeds 02 Academy.

WVM Releases Electronic Pop Single "Sown"

Los Angeles, CA - Electronic musician, visual artist, and multi-instrumentalist WVM has released his Electronic Pop single "Sown." Echoing both classic synth-pop masters Depeche Mode and New Order as well as the more modernized sounds of Daft Punk and The Chromatics, the Christoffer Berg (The Knife, Fever Ray) mixed single was inspired by WVM's love of 80s Pop, while still heavily infused with his unique aural stylings.

"Sown" gets a lot of its inspiration from 80s Bowie and Peter Gabriel with a lot of early Prince.... but mostly it's just the music I want to hear, a lot of my heart and soul went into it which is why it really doesn't sound like any other artist other than me." - WVM

"The name WVM is a wavelength, everything in this reality is made of waves from the car you drive to the skin on your bones. What I love about these waves is that they can be molded into anything. The juxtaposition of the W and the M are intentional to remind me everything has it's opposite. The letters can stand for anything you want but it's just WVM."

The Wild! - "Wild At Heart", Release: 17 February 2017 via eOne Music - Review

The Wild! - "Wild At Heart"
Release: 17 February 2017 via eOne Music

Beer, Beards and Bikes - can it be more rock and roll cliché than that? Probably not, but that’s if you are not curious to go past their borderline "cringe city" videos.

Let me introduce The Wild! and their debut album on eOne called "Wild At Heart". And then you may see The Wild! more than a ZZ Top on steroids, you may hear touches of AC/DC every now and then or identify other multiple musical influences spread out thru the album. That’s not important. Those guys don’t play games, they don’t care, they just want to play Rock 'n' Roll.

Attitude wise they remind me of The Four Horsemen: ideal comparison when I think about the quote that springs to mind when I remember the four piece band: "Rockin is my business and business is good" .... Indeed it is damn good! By the way The Wild! is Canadian.

Music wise Dylan Villain has one of those exquisite voice supplemented by a deliciously efficient drum and bass section completed by The Kid and his guitar antics.

It's nervous, it’s punchy and it’s rocky around the edges, albeit there in an obvious blues sensitivity behind most tracks. How can you not succumb to Run Home, well I suppose Mike Fraser head sound engineer has some degree of responsibility in this, beautiful track where the boys dropped all the imagery to make a track sound as bluesy as it can f#8king be.

If White Devil does not make your feet stomp and your head roll a bit you can still try Livin’ Free or Down At The Bottom, two little gems that I would love to see them playing live.

Listen folks, I could write a book about Ready to Roll, Another Bottle or Kansas City Shuffle but you know what? I bet you have already decided to purchase the album, so why don’t you finish the article yourself.... :)

Overall: Pretty COOL!
If I was to pick 3 only: White Devil, Run Home and Another Bottle
Live: A not to be missed I am told.
