Anna of the North premieres new remix "Baby (Felix Cartal remix)"

Epic, swooning and ethereal, Oslo based act Anna of the North recently arrived with the new single, "Baby," exclusively on Noisey. Now, Vancouver native, Felix Cartal premieres his shimmering re-work of the track, streaming on Mr. Suicide Sheep.

A relentless touring schedule and tireless work ethic have led to Cartal's continued rise as one of dance music's premier producers. Never content to reproduce the same sound, his artistic evolution has resulted in a unique style defined by memorable melodies, beautiful vocals, and driving bass. 2016 has seen the release of multiple remixes by Felix, all of which have topped the Hype Machine charts, including Kiiara's "Feels" and Wafia's "Heartburn". The JUNO nominated artist has performed on the stages of Tomorrowland, EDC, Electric Zoo, and HARD, as well as clubs around the world.

Anna of the North's Baby is the highly anticipated follow up to previous releases, "The Dreamer" and "Sway," which were streamed over 30 million times, and caught the attention from tastemakers like Fader, NYLON, Pigeons and Planes, and rose to number three in the Hype Machine charts. "Sway" also garnered an official remix from certified hit makers, The Chainsmokers.

Los Angeles Rockers BUDDERSIDE to Release New Self-Titled Album via Motörhead Music/UDR

"We've survived hell to live a life to die for, and we're just getting started." -Patrick Stone of Budderside

Doused in the (street) waters of Los Angeles, California, gritty hard rockers BUDDERSIDE are fronted by Patrick Stone, who was with the likes of Quiet Riot, Velvet Revolver and Adler's Appetite before realizing the ultimate dream of his own band and singing his own songs to the world. Enter Michael "The Stoneman" Stone on bass, Rich Sacco on drums and Johnny Santoro, (Still Standing, Rock Sugar) on guitar to form a rock-solid band of brothers with instantly unbreakable bonds.

BUDDERSIDE manager Todd Singerman of Singerman Entertainment (Motörhead) ensured the band went into Rosewood Strat Studio with producer Paul Inder Kilmister (son of Lemmy Kilmister). And the result is a searing-hot, self-titled debut album Budderside, which is due for release on July 29, 2016 via Motörhead Music/UDR. Pre-orders will be available soon, which will come in digipack, digital download and streaming formats.

Take a look at the video for BUDDERSIDE's first single "Pain" now via YouTube:

In the video, we see a gym janitor making eyes at a female boxer, who of course knocks him out. A daydream of unlikely grandeur ensues - chock full of scantily-clad vixens boxing one another and a full on BUDDERSIDE concert in the ring! But is this really a daydream? Watch the video to find out!

BUDDERSIDE vocalist Patrick Stone's drive and verve come from a need to make sense of all life's challenges - politics, sex, philosophy, rage, love, light, sound, senses - and express them all with one unifying current racing through it all - electricity, and Stone is far from encumbered by any perceived 'limitations' of a rock band more than he is empowered by the freedom to explore.

That seeker-spirit sees BUDDERSIDE go from the thick, thumping, leather-clad rock riffery of "The Envelope" to the ska-tinted mobility of "Ska-Bra" which also features Motörhead's Phil Campbell on guitar. There's the bendy, grungy intoxication of "X-Girlfriend", the big-stage orchestral grandiosity of "Can't Wrap My Head Around You" and the thicker, space-fuzzy buzz-riff of "Open Relationship"... which all serve to say that whatever sonic broadsword BUDDERSIDE want to swing, they swing with freedom and verve.

Infectious, gritty, contagious and altogether dangerous, BUDDERSIDE demand your fullest focus and most engaged attention. Stay tuned for more coming from BUDDERSIDE soon.

Budderside Track Listing:

Ska Bra (feat. Motörhead's Phil Campbell)

Open Relationship

Alt Band BLEEKER Set Out On US Tour June 30th

Following the release of their self-titled EP, Toronto based alternative band BLEEKER will set out on a two month North American tour beginning June 30th. The band announced 23 US tour dates alongside Sublime with Rome, The Dirty Heads, and Tribal Seeds, hitting 20 states spanning Miami to Seattle. Full tour dates are below!

Bleeker have released a self-titled EP which Music Existence described as, "all five songs exhibit a unique hit factor, instilled by searing riffs, fluent use of vocal dynamics, and ultimately, universal lyric appeal". The band also released a music video for their song “Highway”. Check it out below:

Bleeker's aesthetic and work ethic remain as sturdy and as unshakable as ever. Musically, Bleeker cross-pollinate the swagger of The Rolling Stones with psych-tinged groove, falling among the likes of Royal Blood, and The Black Keys on the alternative spectrum. What sets them apart is an ever-so-subtle current of loose cannon danger that courses through every riff, note, and melody of their music.

Bleeker live to play and play to live, but they don't take themselves too seriously and they don't try to force anything; instead, they approach the art and craft of making music with the same unjaundiced eye as when they were first getting their legs under them. They refuse to get sucked into cynicism or any forced pressures. It's not do or die for them — it's just do! Catch Bleeker as they storm the North American market.

ROYAL REPUBLIC ANNOUNCE UK HEADLINE TOUR FOR OCTOBER 2016

Royal Republic, fresh from a main-stage appearance at Download 2016, will return to the UK for a run of headline shows in October.

Prior to this year’s Download, Royal Republic – who first joined forces in Malmo Rock City in 2007 – appeared over here with Theory Of A Deadman; now the Swedish party-starters (vocalist / guitarist Adam Grahn, guitarist Hannes Irengård, bassist Jonas Almén & drummer Per Andreasson) are back to play shows of their own, continuing to fly the flag for third studio album, ‘Weekend Man’, released earlier this year via Spinefarm Records.

Comments Grahn: “A wise group once said, ‘being in a band is like being in a relationship, and concerts are like sex’. The return to Download Festival was nothing short of orgasmic on our part, and by the time Royal Republic hit the shores of the UK again in October, the nymphomania will know no limits!"

‘Weekend Man’, crafted in Berlin’s Fuzz Factory Studios by producers Christian Neander & Michael Tibes, sees the dapper Republic-ans delivering their customary rock thrills with even greater gusto – a bold statement of wild-eyed intent founded on big hooks, mountainous melodies and a signature sense of fun. Generally speaking, the aim is to put smiles on faces, but now an’ then a deeper, darker side peeps through, as displayed on the band’s latest video – an “epic tale of love, death & desperation” shot in support of new album track ‘Any Given Sunday’ and featuring legendary Swedish soap star Gunnar Mosen.

Watch the video for ‘Any Given Sunday’ here:

PURSON ALIGN WITH ICONIC BRITISH FASHION BRAND, Mr FISH

Purson, the psychedelic rock act led by vocalist, guitarist & prime creative force Rosalie Cunningham, have taken a bold step into the world of fashion by joining forces with Mr Fish - the iconic British fashion brand whose clothes were worn by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones & Jimi Hendrix.

Starting in 1966, Michael Fish forged his reputation by crafting clothes for celebrities, musical and otherwise, including Muhammad Ali, Princess Margaret & Pablo Picasso (!); the business closed in 1974 after a fire consumed the premises, but now the legendary Mr Fish name is back, and Purson are right at the heart of the re-launch – their retro influences and colourful persona, as displayed on latest studio album ‘Desire’s Magic Theatre’, making them the made-in-heaven muse for the latest Mr Fish creations.

Indeed, both Cunningham and keyboard player Samuel Robinson have designed their own outfits – including cat-suits plus a pure silk man-dress – in close consultation with British design specialist David Mason, who has revived the Mr Fish name out of 34 Montagu Square, London: a blue-plaque location, dubbed ‘the secret Abbey Road’, that was once home to Jimi Hendrix, as well as Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney (who wrote ‘Eleanor Rigby’ there), John Lennon & Yoko Ono.

Meanwhile, July 22ndwill see the release of a new version of the ‘Desire’s Magic Theatre’ album, Purson’s debut outing for Spinefarm Records. Having originally been issued on black vinyl, the LP – drawing inspiration from the rock operas of the late sixties & early seventies – will now be available on ‘Naked Blue’ vinyl for a limited period.

Having toured the US with Ghost & The Sword, played the UK’s prestigious Download festival and become the proud recipient of the ‘Vanguard Award’ at the Progressive Music Awards (2015), Purson is quickly establishing itself as a growing force on the international music scene. Just recently, the band received an ‘Album Of 2016’ nomination from Prog magazine, whilst broader media awareness continues to be strong, with support from 6 Music right across the board.

The following UK festivals are confirmed for July & August, with a headline tour being lined up for the autumn, complete with special London show (details to come)...

July 23rd – Ramblin’ Man Fair, Maidstone
August 7th – Cambridge Rock Festival

In support of these shows, Purson will release a new video for ‘Electric Landlady’, a track from ‘Desire’s Magic Theatre’ that, according to Cunningham, is “essentially about Mother Earth, of feeling at home in the world, safe and loved, with some tongue-in-cheek lyrics”.

Country music superstar Chris Stapleton wins Breakthrough Video Of The Year at CMT Music Awards

Chris Stapleton's follows Top Country Album award win at Billboard Music Awards with a win for his thought provoking video for Fire Away at CMT Music Awards.

Go behind the scenes of the video:

Kentucky-born singer-songwriter and producer Chris Stapleton, one of Nashville’s most revered songwriters who's debut album Traveller has sold over a million copies in the US, is cleaning up at many award ceremonies this summer after his win at the Billboard Music and CMT Awards plus nominations for the prestigious AMA Awards. Stapleton, won the coveted Breakthrough Video of the Year for his moving promo clip ‘Fire Away’. Even more poignant is the fact the video was raising awareness for the US mental health campaign: Change Direction which featured actors Ben Foster and Margarita Levieva, depicting the tale of a man losing his wife to suicide. The Campaign to Change Direction is a national initiative designed to change the culture of mental health in America. The Campaign encourages us all to learn and share the Five signs of emotional suffering: change in personality, agitation, withdrawal, decline in personal care and hopelessness. Watch the powerful video here: www.changedirection.org/chris-stapleton.

Chris has also released a behind the scenes video about the film, which discusses his and director Tim Mattia's vision for the video, with contributions from actors Ben Foster and Margarita Levieva, and the president of charity: Change Direction, Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen. Chris, who came up with the idea when asked by his record label for his first music video, shares: "the song is about loving someone unconditionally, through not so easy times and the concept of the video came to me as the hardest possible space to love somebody. I've also been a huge fan of Ben's for a long time and he was kind enough to take a phone call, and it all grew from there."

Stapleton also received several nods from the Americana Music Association who alongside Lucinda Williams nominated Chris in this year's Album and Artist of the Year categories - the awards, held in the legendary Ryman Auditorium on September 21 form part of the AMA Festival conference one of the most significant music events in Nashville's music calendar.

With these awards closely followed by UK country fans, Stapleton's UK profile will continue to grow and grow. Stapleton made his mark on the UK earlier this year, after popular demand saw the country star perform at UK country events such as Country To Country Festival at the 02 arena in March of this year and release his album in the UK which caught the attention of UK publications such as The Guardian, Telegraph and Line Of Best Fit. Speaking about his recent UK single release of Tennessee Whiskey which caught the attention of tastemakers such as Fader Magazine, Stapleton stated: "I’m excited how Tennessee Whisky goes down in the UK, I know folks in the UK are getting into country music now - so I’m really interested to hear what they think of it."

No doubt UK fans and media a-like will be closely following the career of country music’s latest superstar, Chris Stapleton. A former truck driver and son of a Kentucky coal miner, Chris made a name for himself in Nashville as a successful country songwriter, penning hits for high profile artists such as Luke Bryan, Lee Ann Womack and Tim McGraw, writing for Adele who described Chris's voice as "just incredible, it’s like caramel "and fronting the critically acclaimed US country outfit - Steel Drivers. However it wasn't until the release of his debut solo album Traveller that the wider world was treated to Chris' powerhouse vocals and standout songwriting. Following the stratospheric launch of his album at the CMA's last year, where he performed with Justin Timberlake and won - new artist of the year, album of the year and male vocalist of the year with the attention causing a 6000% sales increase of Traveller).

Chris is now considered one of the most promising country artists of our time, with support from US critics, fans and fellow artists, the album has received “Best of 2015″ attention at publications as diverse as Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, NPR Music, Entertainment Weekly, the Los Angeles Times, Stereogum, Taste of Country and Noisey.

Chris is currently on a nationwide tour of the US including appearances at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Festival. He’s premiered a new honky tonk inspired track ‘Hard Living’ as part of his set and a fan captured the song at one of his shows which you can watch here:

MassMatiks - 4AM

Explosive four-piece MassMatiks, have unveiled their second single ‘4AM’, ahead of a June UK tour, which will see the band travel the country supporting fellow rockers Rory Indiana, an appearance at Y Not Festival, and a London headline show at The Old Blue Last on July 13 th .

With a gentle opening lyrical lament, it doesn’t take long for ‘4AM’ to launch into a tirade of riffery and a huge melodic chorus. Laced with lead singer George Peploe’s fiery British, invective-spitting vocals, ‘4AM’ is another serving of hard-hitting UK rock that sits proudly alongside fellow UK contemporaries such as Slaves, Sleaford Mods and Royal Blood.

Peploe, a British kickboxing champion, delivers biting social commentary, often spoken word, leaping into soaring, hook-laden melodies. Of the single he says, “4AM is about a time when my ex would call me up, drunk and bragging that she is seeing someone else. There was this attitude that she was 'winning' the break up, but I soon came to realise that if she was so happy and so comfortable, then why would she need to tell me? People have experienced both sides of this story and I feel the to-the- point lyrics show the raw honesty and emotion of a break up that so many people have been through.” This is a true band of the people, oozing with raw honesty and not ones to lend themselves to a specific scene, sound or genre. With a raft of new music and even more shows to come this year, keep a watchful eye out for MassMatiks.
