DEVILSKIN: New single ‘FADE’ & video

Devilskin release their new single, the grand and majestic Fade, from the album We Rise. Following the empowerment and self-belief of the singles Start A Revolution and the introspective Never See The Light, sonically softer than its predecessors, Fade is just as relevant and just as powerful. Fade was one of the first songs they wrote together as a band and they believe “its genesis really propelled Devilskin onto bigger and better things.”

Shot on a cold wooded beach out of Auckland, Devilskin wanted the beauty of nature as a backdrop to capture all the elements of the song, “beauty, mystique, power, passion and hurt.” The stark colour grading is crucial and highlights the mood and intensity of Fade. Indulge now in the majestic stark beauty of the Fade video:

Fade along with Never See The Light and Start A Revolution are taken from their debut album We Rise. The album debuted at #1 in New Zealand and became the first album since 2010 by a domestic rock band to achieve Platinum status, while the critics have lauded its UK release.

We Rise, has now been in the NZ Albums chart for 100 weeks while the videos for We Rise, have amassed over in excess of 1.82 million views on YouTube. The four piece Devilskin hail from Hamilton, New Zealand and comprise of the mesmerizing Jennie Skulander on vocals, the red bearded ‘evil twins’ Nail and Paul Martin on guitars and Nic Martin on drums. Devilskin have already earned a formidable reputation by earnestly demonstrating commitment to unpretentious musical values: writing songs that have depth and passion, and a relentless touring schedule. In 2015 Devilskin have supported Mötley Crüe, Slash and Alice Cooper in New Zealand. Their tactical instrumental attack is balanced by the seductive Jennie Skulander and her incredible voice that sweeps from whisper to roar, rips with power, drips with melody and captivates with sincerity.

Devilskin’s irresistible We Rise is at times visceral, urgent and magniloquent but is also tempered with tenderness, empathy, love and bare souls. “ ‘We Rise’ is a roller coaster of emotions and moods, just like life” enthuses Paul Martin “there’s definitely power and there’s definitely passion. The songs are very real, and brutally honest, just like our live show.”

Musically twisted and possessed We Rise combines gorgeous melodies of heavy, bombastic rifts, with streamlined hard rock anthems aimed squarely at the arena circuit, no one else does it better right now. Devilskin are currently mixing their new album and plan to return to the UK and Europe early 2017.

Watsky Announces August 19th Release of Fourth Full-Length Studio Album 'x Infinity' & UK Tour

Album Executive Produced by Russell Simmons, Co-Produced by Kush Mody, Additional Production by Anderson .Paak & Contributions from Twenty One Pilots Drummer Josh Dun Among Others!

Watsky is excited to announce the August 19th release of his fourth full-length studio album x Infinity. The new album was recorded at Seahorse Studios in Los Angeles, Grand St. Recording in Brooklyn and Aqua Vibea in Hadley, Massachussets by Andrew Oedel. Watsky produced the set along with longtime collaborator Kush Mody. Russell Simmons executive produced and there was additional production by Anderson .Paak (who produced Watsky’s last album, 2014’s All You Can Do). In addition, the 18-track release includes a few guest features including Tony Award winning Hamilton star Daveed Diggs as well as Julia Nunes – who can be heard on “Stick to Your Guns” – a song Watsky dropped on Friday July 1st which delves into issues surrounding gun violence.

The album announcement comes on the heels of the release of Watsky’s debut essay collection How To Ruin Everything (Plume/Penguin-Random House). The book dropped on June 14th and debuted at #10 on the New York Times BEST SELLER’s list first week out. Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda commented on the collection, stating “whether you’re a fan of Watsky’s poetry or hip-hop or a total newcomer, you will find joy in the words contained herein. Watsky in prose form is just like Watsky on a track—funny, subversive, and able to excavate such brutally honest sentences that you find yourself nodding your head in wonder and recognition.”

This is not surprising for the young poet and musician who ten years ago won the Youth Speaks Poetry Grand Slam Finals in SF that ultimately led to a performance at the Apollo Theatre in NYC and numerous other awards in the slam poetry world. That same year Watsky filmed the sixth and final season of Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry on HBO and went on to Sundance where he was the recipient of Robert Redford’s “Sundance Summit Award for poetry on Climate Change.” In 2009 Watsky was one of three poets who performed live on FOX at the NAACP Image Awards in honor of Russell Simmons’ lifetime achievement award. He continued to impress with his skill set, honing his craft both live and recorded but it wasn’t until 2011 when, thanks to a couple of viral videos, he was thrust into the national spotlight. That same year he was invited to The Ellen Degeneres Show as a guest and performer, he self-released his second album Watsky that peaked at #7 on the iTunes Hip-Hop albums chart and he was invited to participate in a TEDx program in SF.

Watsky’s fan base has grown considerably since thanks to a relentless stream of mixtapes and videos as well as two more albums — 2013’s Cardboard Castles and 2014’s Anderson .Paak-produced All You Can Do. He’s racked up more than 250 million views on YouTube and one of his most recent clips – “Whoa Whoa Whoa” – amassed more than 10 million views alone. In addition, he’s toured the world extensively over the past five years as a headliner and as part of the Vans Warped Tour and has hit several festivals including Outside Lands, Bumbershoot, Soundset, Ottawa Blues Fest, Hip-Hop Open, Rock the Bells and Wireless.

Now with a newly minted best-selling book to add to his credits, it seems only fitting that Watsky return with his most ambitious album yet and a UK tour, which kicks off in September. Confirmed dates below:

THE SOAP GIRLS debut UK single BAD BITCH & UK tour

The SoapGirls have just finished making the video for their debut UK release - Bad Bitch, a caustic slice of vitriolic Rock’n’Roll & you can order the download now from www.cdbaby.com/cd/thesoapgirls.

SoapGirls hailing from South Africa were given their name by the general public “We have been The SoapGirls since we were 8 and 9 selling soap and street performing for various charities, we did this 365 days of the year for 9 years”

Bad Bitch was written 2 days after The SoapGirls were attacked in Hastings, resulting in a “very emotional and very raw” song. This unprovoked attack, involved sexist abuse and took place when The SoapGirls were performing live, with the perpetrators throwing copious amounts of red liquid over the band. “We hated not being able to fight back and still suffer a lot of anxiety when we are performing as a result of what happened, I became slightly jaded and Bad Bitch was born after we decided we would never take shit from anyone ever again!!” Bad Bitch sees the girls developing a recognized ‘sound’ with their ever-so-edgy vocals, Mille’s heavy throbbing bass lines and Mie letting rip with searing lead guitar work, creating an insouciant blast of filthy rock’n’roll. Proud and humble The SoapGirls are a force of nature who inspire anyone to “follow their dream and believe in themselves”.

The SoapGirls stand for freedom and non-judgement, fiercely outspoken for animal rights, society’s most vulnerable and anti government policies they write straight from the heart with every song being a real experience, either with themselves or someone close. “Be brave enough to be yourself always, we have only one life that we know of so Rock it and embrace it without losing yourself” - The SoapGirls

To see these girls perform live is a must.

LA based, genre defying musical quintet BLACKFALL, featuring Randy Weitzel of In This Moment, has released the video for "This Hell" off of their debut release Vol. 1. Directed by Matt Zane, "This Hell" showcases the band's original rock and world music fusion sound.

A certain magic and warmth comes over you when you hear "This Hell", which I feel was captured stunningly on film by director, Matt Zane. - Alexis Dunlap

With Blackfall, I wanted to do something that was very organic and natural musically. We took the same approach with the video. With the help of stylist Tara Tatangelo, director Matt Zane created a visual that captures the true essence of "This Hell" - Randy Weitzel

Los Angeles based BLACKFALL is bursting on the musical scene with a sound unlike any you’ve ever heard. Earthy, tribal, and mystical, the talented 5 piece outfit perfectly balances the line between haunting darkness and powerful positivity. With their pounding, grooving percussion, dueling 12 string guitar leads, driving bass lines, and alluring, edgy vocals and harmonies, the band is poised to create a genre of music that will appeal to fans of all types of music. Drawing on the magical, eerie influences of the supernatural, BLACKFALL’s sound and message is also equally influenced by the personal experiences of each member of the band.
